Currency Selection On Website?

If I'm traveling internationally outside of the US, will the hotel room get charged in local currency or based on what is selected on Hyatt website? When looking for hotels on the website, there's option to select different currencies or the local currency. Will they charge based off of what you select or always the local currency?

Another question is when do they charge my card for listings that show:
Deposit Policy
Credit Card Guarantee Required

Thanks so much for all the help!

I would say mostly in local currency.
(except for properties in countries where the rate is shown and reserved in USD or EUR but converted and paid in local currency, Mexico, Hungary, and Turkey comes to mind)

Always charged in local currency. The Hyatt website's conversion is just guidance.

At the hotel, if the credit card machine "helpfully" offers to let you pay in USD, that's a DCC scam to way over-charge you.

FWIW, many hotels don't even bother to make you prepay, unless you cancel or no-show.
