Hyatt Centric Montréal (Ville-Marie) REVIEW - MASTER THREAD

Website for Hyatt Centric Old Montréal is now up at the following link. No valuable info at the moment, but it should trickle online sooner than later.

Based on some press articles, the hotel should open early next year with 177 rooms, 4500 square feet of meeting space, a rooftop pool, outdoor bar with 360-degree views and a destination restaurant run by the Montréal-based Burgundy Lion Group. Attaching a rendering of the project, and photo from this link from last month showing the construction progress; some ways to go, but the bulk is done. The hotel sits at the bottom half of a tower with residential units perched above.

Any update on an opening date for the Hyatt Centric? I see you can now book stays in June at the new Hyatt Place Montreal but nothing about an opening date for the Centric.

Desperately was hoping these would be open for my visit in March.

The HP was supposed to open in February, but they moved it to June for some reason… which is annoying as I have a trip to Montréal next week and really wanted a Hyatt option.

Attaching a photo of the Centric under construction from two weeks ago; the building is sealed and interior fit-out is going on, but there’s absolutely no way this will meet the “early 2022” target it’s claiming - more like Q3.

Ugh clearly late 2022 may be stretching it. Guess it'll be Marriott/Hilton for me once again.

What a disappointment.

Wow the cash rate is pretty high for being a cat 3 property.
Is this property supposed to be a luxury hotel or a business hotel?
Also, is the location good for sight seeing in Montreal?

Being in the tourist area of Old Montreal (old port) they are no doubt charging what other hotels in the area will get, and they are opening at the tail end of the summer season. Is it worth the price? who knows.

IMO this is not a business area hotel. As a Montreal resident, I am not a fan of Old Montreal hotels because of the location. parking is bad and the metro(subway) is a long walk. however people seem to like Old Montreal as a tourist location. This specific hotel seems to me in the worst part of the area being a little further away from the attractions, but everything should be walkable.

If you want to be downtown, either to do something else or for business, the location is terrible.

Adding new renderings to the thread - looks like a delightful boutique-inspired design. One to check out for sure, and great to have a full-service Hyatt back in the city again.

Despite the hotel page saying that reservations are being accepted from August 26, availability seems to have been zeroed out until September 15.

UPDATE: Hotel page now updated to say reservations now being accepted from September 15

Might be a soft open. Might be that hotel management / Hyatt thinks they can just send you over to the HP if necessary...

Too bad about the delayed opening date.
I wanted to check out their outdoor pool if they were going to open at the end of August...not sure if the outdoor pool will be open at the end of September now.

As a Globalist with plans to be in Montreal for leisure in early October, I feel compelled to try to stay at this seemingly interesting new hotel -- especially since it's a pretty cheap award redemption which should also give me free Montreal parking.

I hope it actually opens in time for my visit!

They delayed the opening again, so the Director of Rooms called me and offered to walk me to another property which appears to be a bit higher-end cover all seven nights, and refund my points. Pretty generous considering the length and that the reservation is still over two months out notification. I was counting on the free parking so now I need to figure out where to park for a week cheaply.

He said that there was a delay in receiving building materials and they do not want to do a "soft-opening" of a partially completed hotel.
