It's odd that Hyatt would change their program in a way that favors those who purchase rooms in cheap hotels.
Besides which they deny most of the time anyway. |

It doesn't favor anyone, it just caps the property's exposure to a minimal amount and requires future spend on Hyatt. A loss for everyone.

with the new system, you get the fixed $50 credit to use regardless of the price of the room while formerly it was 20% of the rate.

It's a counterexample to the hypothesis that the new WOH program is all about focusing on spend.

it seems i dont get it. If i look back in my last 30 stays , there is no single one, that would have been better with the new programm.
This is a ONE TIME PER STAY 50 USD Credit. We stayed at the PH Tokio recently for 5 Days. The 20% were 200 USD a NIGHT , which comes up to about 1000 USD. Now its 50 USD. So for us another very very bad point. But to be honest, i would say, that customers like us are not A , not even B Type customers. very loyal, lots of stays, but almost always on very low rates. So it looks like they want to get rid of us. So it shall be. |
OOPS, my mistake, the new program offers $50 per _STAY_. The old program was 20% per _NIGHT_.
You're right. The new program sucks, big-time. |

You're right. The new program sucks, big-time. Enjoy this last week of Hyatt BRG. ;) After that, Hyatt basically just match the competing rates if they approve BRG. |
They officially terminated their brg program.
Poor hyatt. |
For folks with one night stays at cheap properties, this is a good deal, but folks with one night stays at cheap properties are not likely to be scouring the third-party sites for a deal.
For those traveling on someone else's dime, the program provides an odd benefit. Previously, the savings applied to your current stay on someone else's dime. Now, you can use the benefit (albeit small at $50) for your personal travel. |

Hyatt: $200 Expedia type site: $180 Obscure site: $100 I've been saying for a while that I'd prefer a HONEST BRG where Hyatt simply matches obscure site without giving me any grief. I don't need a 20% BRG reward if I can truly get the lowest available rate. Why should some bum pay half as much as I do, just so I get stay credit and elite benefits? Of course obscure site rates haven't been accepted in a long time, and we're now seeing ridiculous excuses even with the Expedias. Simply give me a HONEST BRG with match and no rewards, and I'll be happy. Of course I'm not holding my breath that this change will be accompanied by more leniency in approving claims. |
The new Hyatt BRG credit is even designed to expire. Given Hyatt has invested technology to make the credits expire speaks volumes about when customers are subjected to the excuse of something pulled/not done due to "technology limitations" (or some other such excuse).
Welcome to the new Hyatt, the customer-unfriendly one that would have been unrecognizable before Hyatt did its IPO. |
On a more practical note, i wonder if i can book a stay as several 1 nt ones and brg individually.. in theory this system should be more beneficial but doing multiple brgs is probably a royal pain...

New program is same or better than current one which is they deny everything to begin with. :)
|
Embarrassing showing for Hyatt.
