Yeah, I've used my Hilton diamond a grand total of once since they matched me.

Sadly, comp rooms in Vegas don't count as qualifying nights/stays. I'm in Vegas enough that I get some free rooms at Monte Carlo and Aria (or Excalibur and Luxor, but given those options...) I earned points for things charged to my room for my Aria comp stay, but no stay/night credits. I also had an offer of 1 comp night w/2 night stay at Bellagio. That offer actually posted as a stay and 2 nights. So that's not a bad way to go if you have that mlife offer.

Makes it pretty hard for me to get diamond, since many of my Hyatt stays I use points on. I did the challenge in 2014, and completed it. Had a nice stay and the Andaz Maui with free breakfast. It was nice having diamond for the following year, and I do miss it now. Just stayed on points at the Grand Hyatt Kauai, and would have been nice to get into the club for breakfast. Oh well.

Thought I might not this year but it appears trying harder does work sometimes :-)

Now's the perfect time to get in too. Next year and going forth, it will become tougher to get/retain status.

This isn't my first year of qualification.

FWIW, I emailed gold passport today explaining that I'm currently in the middle of a 70-night stay (began in 2017) at an SPG hotel and need to extend it for an additional ~45 days, so was curious if I switched to the Hyatt nearby for the extension whether they would match (or at least offer a challenge) to Hyatt diamond/globalist.

Very quickly received a seemingly automated email thanking me for my interest in the "limited time tier match offer" and that it was not going to happen.

I suspect that could be due to transition to the new World of Hyatt program on March 1. I think we all expect challenges/matches to return but not until WoH is in effect.
