I'll answer my own question after my stay. There is one Peloton. The gym is one of the worst aspects of this hotel. It looks like a Hyatt Place gym.

Overall, though, I had a great stay. As an Explorist, I was upgraded to a Hyatt Suite on the top floor. I believe that's my first suite upgrade in 7 years as an Explorist. I think the agent said something about not having any of the king room I had booked. That's certainly great service and will motivate me to return. Breakfast in Bandol was excellent and reasonably priced.

One thing to note about "The Corner," the lounge open to everyone: in the morning they had oranges, apples, and packaged snacks, but when I returned around 1 pm, the snacks were gone. Printing is available there.

How's the breakfast here?

Stayed here a months back for one night on points. I was upgraded to a Deluxe King on a high floor as a Discoverist. The front desk also automatically applied late check out for me without me asking. There were some fruits, granola bars, and coffee at the lounge available for me to grab during the morning. I definitely appreciated that after my morning run by the lakefront.

Breakfast is in the restaurant downstairs and I really liked it. Good quality and very attentive service. You get 35USD per person as a Globalist, which was fine for coffee/tea, juice, one main dish and a side, plus tax and tip.

Agreed. Was there last month. Great food and service.

This sounds like my spot then. Thanks for the help!

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Centric The Loop Chicago and was thoroughly disappointed with how this property handles Globalist benefits. Despite Hyatt's clear terms stating that gratuity and service charges are included as part of the complimentary breakfast benefit, the hotel refused to honor this. Instead, they claimed gratuity is not covered, which directly contradicts the program’s published rules.

When I brought this up with the manager, I was told, “Not all Globalist benefits are honored here.” This is unacceptable for a brand like Hyatt, which relies on the loyalty of frequent travelers. It’s frustrating to spend years earning Globalist status only to be met with a hotel that doesn’t follow the program rules.

If you’re a frequent traveler or Globalist expecting a consistent experience in line with Hyatt’s promises, avoid this property. It’s clear they’re cutting corners at the expense of loyal guests.

We stayed last Wednesday at the hotel and I was told at check in, that the 35USD per person were including tax and gratuity and we had no problem with breakfast being covered completely.
Maybe they had a bad day during your stay.

This has been my experience as well. Excellent elite recognition and breakfast benefit. I stay at this property about six times a year. Only issue at breakfast has been on Sat/Sun when they have a brunch menu... some items on that menu will break the $35 budget. Either skip those items or be willing to shell out a few extra dollars. Unnecessary hoop? Yes. Deal breaker? Of course not.

So this is what they say "we do not cover gratuity. We only cover the meal and tax under $35"Hyatt Terms, clearly state that "gratuity and service charges" are included under the complimentary breakfast benefit for Globalists. Specifically, Section V of the Terms, regarding Globalist Status, outlines the following:
(d) Club Lounge Access/Breakfast Benefit.
When staying at a participating hotel or resort that has a Club lounge, Globalists will receive access to the Club lounge. When staying at a participating hotel or resort that does not have a Club lounge (or if Club lounge is closed), Globalists will receive daily complimentary full breakfast (which includes one entrée or standard breakfast buffet, juice, and coffee, as well as tax, gratuity and service charges) for each registered guest in the room, up to a maximum of two (2) adults and two (2) children.
This policy, as outlined on Hyatt’s official website (Hyatt Terms), indicates that gratuity should be covered as part of the benefit.

A Hyatt Centric trying to skirt the rules? I'm shocked!

Adding a data point to the breakfast discussion above...

Had a brief one-night stay earlier this week. The front desk agent clearly and carefully explained to me that the Globalist breakfast benefit was $31.50. For a second opinion, I asked my server the next morning, who said she wasn't sure, but she thought it was $35, and specifically said that didn't include tax or tip. I ordered $26 worth of food, and my total check ended up being $35.34, including tax, tip, and a $0.78 "restaurant surcharge".

Just like the front desk said, $31.50 was removed and the remaining $3.84 was charged to my folio. Unless my experience is a one-off outlier, it sounds like the breakfast benefit has recently been downgraded from $35 to $31.50.

The food was good and I thought the menu prices were surprisingly decent for a hotel restaurant. Incidentally, checking the menu after I finished breakfast, I noticed breakfast potatoes and halloumi were listed as part of the Mediterranean breakfast I ordered, but I received neither. Not a big deal - the meal was tasty and filling - but worth noting.

Regarding the rest of the stay, my Globalist upgrade was from a standard king to a high floor king. The bed was comfortable, the room was spartan but functional, and at the $110 room rate, it was perfectly fine. There are more interesting Hyatt options in Chicago, but for this quick stay the Centric met my needs.

Following up as well. My breakfast allowance was $31, which was more than enough, and everything ended up being wiped. I had EXCELLENT service on Friday morning but unfortunately the staff was different (our waitress was missing) on Saturday resulting in terrible service. The weekday and weekend menus are slightly different. Of my two rooms, one was upgraded to a suite, which was great for us all to hangout and the other was as booked. My only complaint was that the thermostat was wonky and inaccurate in the king room.

I wold not hesitate to return with the same rate and need to be in the same area.

Out of curiosity, what is the story behind the lounge? We went there a couple times for coffee and to chat, but it felt like it initially was a HR Club Lounge the way it was setup.

The three quotes are all from the last 30 days as I post this. What is with the incredible shrinking breakfast allowance? (Maybe people don't need as large an allowance since it doesn't cover tip?)

Did you take that up with Hyatt corporate?

I thought that the amount sufficiently covered a decent sized breakfast.
