non refundable rate switch to points

Shot in the dark but I hastily booked a non refundable rate Phoenix for superbowl weekend last night when the seahawks won. This morning I saw that the hotel had point rooms available. Do you think there's any chance I could switch?

It would be up to the hotel. However I would make a separate reservation using points and call their in house reservation to ask if they would cancel the prepaid one.
You can always cancel the one on points later.

In my experience, writing a really nice email has been working out much better for me because I can get the revenue desk / GM involved rather than just the front desk people.

Thank you I will try!

But keep in mind that a nonrefundable prepaid rate is discounted because the guest accepts less flexibility. I agree that talking with management is the best way forward. Your chances are probably better if a short time has passed since booking.

It wasn't a cheaper rate. All of the rates are non refundable due to Super Bowl. I should have acted sooner as they are no longer accepting point reservations. Not complaining, going to Super Bowl. :D
