Seattleite here. Don't discount the possibility of clear weather. We often have a week of sunny but cold conditions in January.

I've stayed twice now at the Hyatt House Redmond in addition to the full service properties in Bellevue and Seattle. Since those have been covered well, thought I'd add a few words regarding Hyatt House.
I was really taken aback by the quality of the hotel. I had thought the Hyatt House was "beneath" Hyatt place in the pecking order, but I found HH to exceed HP in many regards. For one, the complimentary breakfast at HH Redmond was far better than anything I've had at a HP. The rooms were at least on par in fit and finish with Hyatt Place and the clearly delineated kitchen/dining areas, living room, bedroom, bathroom felt a little more homey than a HP. I know the comparison is a bit "apples to oranges" since HH is an extended stay with full kitchen, but even if you're just staying one to two nights don't overlook the Hyatt House. On the negative side, there was zero recognition of my status either time staying at Hyatt House Redmond. No effort to move me to a more desired room. On one stay I asked for late checkout as a platinum. Girl at counter was confused about the status benefit but was happy to oblige since the hotel that night was nearly empty. Also the HH Redmond has this ridiculous access hole in the shower glass to allow you to turn on the water before stepping in. Great in theory, but after a 10-minute shower the tile outside the shower is soaked. This property is a bit out of the way, located in Redmond far from anything but generic strip malls. Speaking of Hyatt Place, would LOVE to see one at Sea-Tac airport, or any Hyatt property for that matter! |

Speaking of Hyatt Place, would LOVE to see one at Sea-Tac airport, or any Hyatt property for that matter! The HR Bellevue is okay too. I would only stay here if I wanted to be in DT Bellevue and/or have lounge access. However, two things I don't like about this property is that they charge parking on weekdays and their TVs don't have HD. |
I've stayed at all the area Hyatts in the past 6-9 months......
IMO. Olive 8 is my favorite. Diamond breakfast for 4 can run 106$ for 4......my elite rate tends to run 151$..... Free internet. Nice pool........did I mention Crab Benedict?!!!! Mmmmmmm. Eco friendly hotel......expensive parking. 2. HH Redmond......rate driven. Very nice property 3/4. Grand Hyatt Seattle/HR Bellevue........both nice properties and location 5. Hyatt Place Space Needle. It's not fair I put them 5th, free internet, cheap street parking almost free, if you know how to do it....THIS is by far the best CS. I've stayed here 5-7 times in past 12 months. Always perfect Service.....they're 5th, because someone has to, and it's just the property. Nothing to do with Service, or location...... 6. Hyatt Place Bellevue I do have to say one thing about HH Redmond......I love Hyatt. HUGE fan, but I think they don't have great CS. My thoughts as a Diamond guest is this is one of the worst I'm my 30+ different Hyatts......not sure why this is, but each stay is a little more trying. ): Good, relaxing property, brings us back...... |
i live 6 blocks from the GH and O8, and work about 30 seconds drive from HH redmond.
IME, all are great properties. HHR - i'll semi-MR at HHR - or sometimes we'll just do an overnight when we dont want to drive back home on a friday over 520. i would say recognition in terms of rolling out the red carpet is nil, however every time they ask if i want the points or market credit, etc. all of the rooms here similar, and for the most part can be classified into to categories: kitchen or no kitchen. they are a bit stingy in upgrading to the 5th floor rooms with high ceilings but i've never minded. and the HH breakfast here is definitely better than that at HPs. GH - pretty solid GH. they are fantastic at upgrading diamonds to suites proactively and have a lot of them. the club has a nice spread for a domestic. views from the suites are great, and i also like the layout of the rooms. 08 - like others have mentioned, great breakfast benefit here, stylish property, and contemporary rooms. HR bellevue - notorious for not upgrading, even to club rooms for diamonds. free parking on weekends is nice, and location (if you want to be in bellevue) is perfect. |
Priceline and the Grand Hyatt Seattle
I booked at night at the Grand Hyatt Seattle through Priceline. Anyway, I just tried to call the hotel to put in a bedding and smoking request under the reservation. I have to have two beds and a non-smoking room. This is something that I have done many times at other hotels when booked through priceline. Unfortunately, the number goes to central reservations and the woman refused to put in the reservation any bedding or smoking request. I have to take my chances a check-in. She said that is not possible at Hyatt hotels when booked through Priceline. Fine, but this policy is not very customer friendly. Was booking the Hyatt through Priceline a mistake?

Per Priceline: (bolding mine) Rooms reserved through priceline are guaranteed to accommodate up to 2 guests comfortably. Some hotels may charge an additional fee, payable at the front desk, for bedding requests and/or extra people. All bedding requests are based on hotel availability and are at the discretion of the hotel. https://www.priceline.com/customerse...CIALREQUEST%29 |

My wife and I will be in Seattle late December/early January and are having a hard time choosing between the GH and the O8. Initially we were leaning toward a suite at the GH because of the better views but at that time of the year what are the chances of having a clear view to Puget Sound, Lake Union etc?
The breakfast at the O8 sounds very good compared to the Grand Club Lounge offerings but the suites, which visitors seem to find very spacious and comfortable, only have views over the city. If the views are going to be badly compromised by the weather then we would tend to favour the O8. Appreciate any input from previous guests or local Seattle folk. Which is more important for that particular stay? Having a better breakfast (O8) or having access to the lounge (GH) throughout the day. |

I would say that if your needs are that specific, then booking any hotel through priceline isn't the best idea.

(I cannot even speak to someone at the front desk.) This seems a bit unfair and does not bode well. |

Sorry for being so direct, but part of booking through a 3rd party (usually to get a better rate) does have it's draw backs, and Hyatt are not doing anything wrong. I would say the wording from Priceline means a request made when checking in, not in advance. As a customer service measure, then yes, some flexibility could be shown, but totally at the discretion of whoever you are dealing with (perhaps the reservation is locked, and a request cannot be added, that is common with 3rd party reservations) |

I live in Seattle, and really like both hotels. For me, what it comes down to is:

How is it unfair, you booked through Priceline, make your request through them.

You don't, but you got exactly what you paid for......
