I imagine that a new photoshoot is underway.
Some room types note "courtyard view" (i.e., interior) or "city view" (exterior). If a room is listed without either, should I assume it's an interior view?

Always better to reach out to the hotel or reservations for certainty

The rooms look like a canopy hotel maybe not as nice though reflecting on a historical past.
Do the rooms bathrooms look better in person?
Did you dine there?
I certainly see some improvement but was hoping for more
luxury touches room interior wise.
Website could be better with the photos especially after all that investment!

I've got no idea what it looked like before the renovations so I can't compare, but the room and bathroom looked like the one in the pictures for the 2 queen bed room - Hotel Rooms and Suites in Philadelphia | The Bellevue Hotel

I ate at the restaurant upstairs once for dinner - seemed very small and there was a wedding reception in the event space on the other side of the elevator bank which was super loud, so that was a weird vibe. But my food (chicken, quinoa, and broccolini) was pretty good.

I stayed this past weekend. Definitely some re-opening pains - housekeeping wasn't fully trained (said they didn't have things, e.g. lint mitt, that they actually did) and the key readers into the building for after-hours access wasn't installed/working, but it was a decent stay. Not sure what they had before, but the room had "Who is Elijah - Nightcap" toiletries which smelled pretty good to me. I used points to book, and they told me that valet would be covered (Discoverist on the verge of Explorist), so I'd assume Globalist valet would also be covered. I had access to the Sporting Club which was very nice. However, the bridge connecting the two building was locked with a chain, so you have to exit, go across the alley, and go into the other building. Not a big deal since it was dry but could get annoying if it's cold and raining/snowing.

Nice you got valet parking covered for not being globalist! But I do think they 'messed up' and would not expect this to be the case when they have everything in order.

Rooms look pretty blah / disappointing to me. Considering they closed the property for the renovation, I was expecting a lot more.

The hotel officially reopened today.

This article has some photos of the restored lobby:

https://phillychitchat.com/2024/10/2...ellevue-hotel/

I'm glad to see they put the walls back in where the 1988 renovations created a hideous modern atrium in the main lobby, overlooking the food court in the basement.

You can see in these photos how they restored the walls in the lobby that were removed in 1988.

In this 2019 photo, there are no walls at the back, where the arches are, just the marble columns, and the atrium behind, with an escalator going up.

In this new photo, from the linked article, the walls have been rebuilt in their original place, connecting the marble columns. The Viennese Room was originally behind those walls, but I think it was long gone by 1988. I'm not sure what was there when Rubin put in the atrium.

I highly recommend checking out the article, it has other photos of the restored lobby, also showing the registration desk at last restored to its original location, under the lobby clock. Since 1988, that site was bare.

The restaurant on the 19th floor, XIX, is apparently no more. All the retail stores on the lobby level are gone, and those spaces are being restored to their original function as restaurants. As a result, the domed halls on the 19th floor, which served as restaurants since 1989, have been also returned to their original use, as function rooms.

It’s a shame to lose the top floor to a private event space. That used to be a beautiful restaurant. I’m curious what Mr Edison will look like once it’s done. Wonder if they will have two restaurants, Mr Edison and the space where Palm used to be, in addition to the breakfast space on 19th floor.

Back from a recent stay at The Bellvue. First time so I cannot comment on what went before.

Highlight is The Sporting Club. Fantastic facility. Had a great workout. Really enjoyed the steam/sauna/cold plunge at the end 😊

Public areas at this property are quite impressive. On the 12th floor there is The Conservatory, a sort of interior courtyard/garden for relaxing in. Rooms have been nicely finished, understated but good quality furniture and bedding. Shower pressure good.

For negative points, I was not impressed with sound-proofing. A lot of street noise, so ear plugs would be essential here. Would request an interior room next time.

Breakfast is on the 19th floor in Perogla. Despite being on top floor there are no views. I suspect views have been taken by the function rooms at the other side of the building. Breakfast was quite limited, 2 options Continental ($28++) or Full Buffet ($42++). No a la Carte.

Quality of ingredients was high but selection very limited. Globalist breakfast for me, but if I was paying, would not be happy. I would be hard pressed to value the Full Buffet at more than $30++. Automatic 18% Service Charge plus tax bring the cost north of $52

Continental – Fresh Fruit (sliced melon, cantaloupe, pineapple, grapes, watermelon), Fage Yogurt, Croissant, Apple Danish, White and Wholewheat Toast, assorted Bagels

Juice was just Tropicana OJ, or at least that’s what it tasted like.

Full – adds, Applewood Bacon, Turkey Sausage, Waffles, Breakfast Potato, Scrambled Egg (real egg)

No condiments on display, e.g. no tabasco for eggs. I guess I could have asked for it, but it would be better to have it out, given it’s a buffet
Staff were friendly

IMO, for the prices charged to make sense;

Cold buffet probably needs to add most if not all of; smoked salmon, cold cuts, cheese, wider pastry selection, cereals, whole fruit, smoothie, better quality juices

Full buffet needs to add cook to order eggs, oatmeal

Granted its only open a few days, but there does not seem to be a lot of space to add more buffet items, so this could well be the extent of it

Appreciate the wonderful review update.
Noise has always been in a problem and most owners do not want to invest in this problem
though they know it irritates guests
For myself besides the property being a Hyatt the reason to stay there all these decades was
*The fitness center
*Location
*A solid breakfast with anything you wanted ala carte or buffet removed from the bill as a Globe.

The formal top floor dining room is where it was served
and then eventually outside of the dining room in the adjacent more casual cafe with elegant high ceilings
Freshly squeezed orange juice (long gone years ago) and marvelous European level baking by a talented pastry chef.
That took a respectable breakfast and spring boarded it to greater heights closer to an actual 5 star perception.
Over the past ten years I've watched the degradation at a number of full service Hyatt hotels delve into 3 star quality a cut or two over a Doubletree
Hyatt @ Grand Central is a case in point where even a 99 dollar Double tree can out perform
Sinking variety quality inconsistency and Walmart bread and pastry @ select hotels are not uncommon
Bean counters setting absurd dollar limits even at the Park Hyatt in NYC.
If the quality and variety is there I'm somewhat less adverse to paying some extra but when its the same or worse than other hotels I leave Hyatt for competitors
as I want to be happy with the greater experience.

I find it fascinating that abroad Hyatt appears to be keeping their iconic high quality standards by comparison.
Many times I have to ask for silly things onions, mustard, avocado, skim milk cream cheese fruit that isn't spoiled etc When its slow no big deal
when the venue is busy you may be out of luck.No Smoked salmon could be a deal breaker for me if staying more than one night.
No cooked to order eggs already a deal breaker now IMO
I get excited when I go overseas and see stunning quality and variety that makes your day and experience
I explain to my younger family members we used to be like that too :o (sigh)
Hopefully this property will shine bright despite some of the slight negatives
and make ongoing proper improvements.

Just finished a stay here. It was mediocre at best. The room was too hot, and the thermostat would not allow the temperature to be set below 68 (and it never actually went below 71). The sound-proofing is bad even in interior rooms, based on the multi-hour drunken argument I could hear down the hall at 3am. The breakfast buffet itself was also fine, with very limited selection (and the outrageous prices, if you're paying). I don't anticipate staying here again.

Centric vs the Bellevue (post-rennovation)

I'm coming into PHL in December - which Hyatt would you stay at in Center City now that the Bellevue has been rennovated?

The Centric is nice enough but I wasn't a huge fan of the room which was on the small side. Also the toliet was on one side of the room and the shower was on the other side. We didn't like that at all. I'm going back to Philly in March and while I haven't stayed at the Bellevue we are going to this time. I feel like the Bellevue is in a better location too in my opinion.

Depending on where you want to be, Centric is probably in a slightly “better” location, but they are essentially in the same area just three blocks away from each other.
