I couldn't find any other dates even if I try 60 days in dec and jan
Do you know if i can get the points and credit without staying at the hotel?:)

shawnymcd Dec 1, 2012 9:38 pm

Booked it for both nights. This will get me SPG gold - not a huge deal, but better than nothing and only costs me $20. I have family that will check in for me (his name is on the res, my SPG number is on there, and it's all paid for). That should be ok, right? I told him if they ask to say my flight was delayed...

Sulley Dec 1, 2012 9:57 pm

Snagged :D

idealflyer Dec 1, 2012 10:03 pm

Nice find, does this mean there will be a year end visit to nearby House of Miles followed up with a NYE DO @ DEN Aloft? ;)

tracon Dec 1, 2012 10:05 pm

I love how the cash + points option is available.:D
2800+$45.

SKYEG Dec 1, 2012 10:52 pm

I want to book this so bad but can't find a reason to. :(

WScottsdaleInsider Dec 1, 2012 11:19 pm

Remember to book 3 rooms if you need 3 night or stay credits!

thetobster12345 Dec 1, 2012 11:50 pm

I'm kind of a noob to this whole thing, but I couldn't find this answered anywhere. What happens if I prepay the room but never check in?

blr1222 Dec 1, 2012 11:57 pm

Anybody gotten any other dates to work?

You will be out your money and won't receive any points.

jammanxc Dec 2, 2012 1:45 am

hope this deal gets honored!!

World-Wide Dec 2, 2012 2:23 am

wow Clippers play the Nuggets Jan 1st wish they had that deal that day I might have made a trip to Denver. Or if the Nuggets played my Sixers 1 of the days they have the deal.

poptarts Dec 2, 2012 7:07 am

12/23-12/24 still working for $9, seems dead on 12/30-12/31. Actually, I switched to chrome and 12/30-12/31 is working again.

usa18dca Dec 2, 2012 4:31 pm

Is this still available?

ETA: Looks to be gone.

As long as you physically show up to check in.

Wow...I've never met anyone that would actually fly somewhere to see the Clippers play :D

It seems we are BOTH wrong:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starw...-no-shows.html

You WILL get the points (9,18,27 or 36 - whoopee!) , but you WON'T get the nights or stay credits.

I knew you got something, but I remembered it backwards.

Peace.

LOL that was the old Clipper days. Now it's the new Lob City Clippers. I am a Sixers fan since I grew up here in Philly. Always have been always will be. But I lived in the LA area for a year Aug 2010 to Aug 2011, and bought Clippers season tickets since I am a huge NBA fan. Since then Clippers has been my 2nd team.

I got a notice from Award Wallet that my rate has been changed to $89. Just checked my SPG account, and sure enough, price is now $89. No notification from the hotel whatsoever!

I wasn't expecting the hotel to honor the rate, but advance notice of the rate change would have been nice.

thanks for posting; I checked and my rate went up as well to $89! I checked my credit card statement and there are no charges, yet.

jammanxc Dec 3, 2012 9:54 pm

Same here... This is ridiculous.. Glad I took screenshots

Sulley Dec 3, 2012 10:13 pm

Shouldn't they notify a guest first?

PapaSmurf Dec 3, 2012 10:34 pm

Got the Award Wallet notification as well. Nothing from SPG or the hotel.

What's interesting is that if you look at the reservation on the SPG website is that it's a prepaid rate that must be paid in advance with cancellation penalties, etc., but then when you scroll down to the Cancellation Policy section it indicates that it can be cancelled with no penalty until 12/20. Haven't seen anything charged to my CC yet. Still I'd rather have this honored instead of adjusting the rate with option to cancel.

stinger101 Dec 4, 2012 1:09 pm

I emailed SPG customer service and they showed that the reservation was changed. Said they would contact the hotel and look into it. I received this from the hotel:

"I greatly apologize for the issue with the rate. We are currently looking into what happened with the system offering a $9.00 rate for the 23rd of December. The actual rate during that time is $89.00 for a pre paid reservation. I can go ahead and cancel the reservation and make sure that you are not charged. Please advise."

I'm thinking I can 1k or 2k starwood points for my trouble and cancel the reservation.

MrHalliday Dec 4, 2012 6:14 pm

I also only became aware of any change via award wallet.
AW shows the res date changed from Dec. 4th to Dec. 5th.
Nice time machine.

SPG should contact member, not just offer to cancel if we contact them.
Prepaid is prepaid. Usually. But it is still just a few days old.

When nothing was said within a few days of booking.
I changed Christmas plans to overnight in DEN.

"vamos a ver".

hobo13 Dec 4, 2012 7:07 pm

Funny, I was notified by AwardWallet about a rate change on a different SPG property a month or so ago. I had booked the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort using the 10-year promo rate of $149. 6 weeks after I booked, Award Wallet told me the rate had changed to $229.

Called SPG, who called the property. Property claimed that they had to adjust the rate because too many people booked 1-night stays and were 'abusing' the promo (stay 1 night at Wild Horse, 1 night at Westin Kierland = 10K starpoint bonus).

They restored my rate, and gave me 1000 SPG points as compensation.

HansGolden Dec 4, 2012 9:17 pm

Just got an email from AwardWallet:

Rooms 1
Room Type 1 Adult, 1 Room
Cost $9 $89
Taxes $1.16 $11.44
Total $10.16 $100.44
The first rate is struckthrough, the second is the new rate in each case.

Mrgolfer21 Dec 5, 2012 7:45 am

What if you were not signed up for Awardwallet? Were they ever going to notify you of the change or you are just stuck when you show up? Pretty bad on the hotels part to just change it without notification...i'd press for them to honor it or no less than 2K points. If they had contacted you and said "sorry, something goofed, we can't honor this rate, here are your options...." then I can understand not pushing for something...it's one thing to mess up, it's another thing to try and hide it and secretly change it hoping nobody would notice until it is too late. Just bad customer service.

HansGolden Dec 5, 2012 11:30 am

Just got this email, offering either $49 rate or 2k SPG:

Dear Guest,

We are writing with regard to the reservation you recently made at the Aloft Denver International Airport. As you probably guessed, the $9.00 rate was incorrect and due to an error. Our system automatically corrected the rate, which we understand caused some confusion and concern. Please accept our apology.

The Terms & Conditions on our website stipulate our right to cancel if a reservation resulted from a mistake or error, but it is important to us at the Aloft and to Starwood to always show our appreciation for our valued guests and members. Accordingly, we would like to offer you a special, discounted rate of $49.00, plus tax, instead of the correct rate of $89.00, which as mentioned above, was already restored. We hope you will accept this offer and that we can look forward to welcoming you to the hotel for your scheduled stay should you choose to. In that same respect, if you have already cancelled your reservation, we will be happy to reinstate it at the $49.00 rate on the previously reserved dates if you are still planning on traveling to Denver.

Should you not wish to accept the offer and decide to cancel your reservation, please let us know and we will cancel without penalty. As a gesture of goodwill, upon cancellation, we will post 2,000 starpoints to your Starwood Preferred Guest account on a per-member basis.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and understand that you may be disappointed. We value your business and hope you will choose to stay at the Aloft Denver International Airport. All Starwood Preferred Guest benefits will be fully honored! Please be reminded that in order to earn your benefits as an SPG member, you must stay at the hotel and pay for the stay, up to a maximum of three rooms.

Although this reservation was made on a Starwood Hotels and Resorts website/through Starwood Central Reservations, we ask that you please communicate with the hotel directly regarding your reservation(s). Please let me know how you would like to proceed at your earliest convenience. You can best reach me email at matt.*@aloftdenverairport.com or call me at 303-371-9500 extension *.

Very nice...see, this makes all the difference...yes, we'd like them to honor it all the time, but being given these two options is very fair.

And now I am kicking myself i didn't listen to the advice i've gotten which is always book it and see what happens...i didn't have a need for the room or a trip, but 2K points would be a nice gift.
