William the Conqueror, Colombus, Declaration of Independence, Great Depression Stock Market Crash ... but some of us don't get the joke.

No info on Hilton in WAW but can certainly vouch for there being a lot of top end hotels in Warsaw. What is missing is the Hilton Garden Inn, 4 Points, even Fairfield and Hampton type properties.

Sounds like it should be open in time for the Christmas Market - I'll definitely be there in November

I had reservations for a short stay in mid-November.

Just received e-mail with notification that the opening has been pushed back to early 2007, but still no specific date given.

They offered to help me find other suitable lodging if required. Would I get HH points for staying at the Sheraton? oh well......

Warsaw Hilton - what's going on?

Few weeks ago Hilton.com opened up reservations for the new Warsaw Hilton with the starting date of NOV2. I made a 3 night stay reservation starting on NOV16 at a rate of 125E per night.

Yesterday I received an e-mail from the Convention and Events Sales Executive at the Warsaw Hilton informing me (in Polish) that the hotel will not be able to accomodate me during the required dates because of some construction delays and so forth. He apologized and also informed me that the hotel will not be opening until early 2007. Fine, "stuff happens", or so I thought.

Today, just out of curiosity, I went to Hilton.com to see if my res was cancelled, but found it odd that it's still a valid res to begin with. Anyways, I decided to "test" and see if another res for the same dates is still possible.

Guess what? Now it's only available under "Diamond Force" or whatever it's called and the rate is ~265E.

So, could this be just a a Hilton.com not getting the info correctly? but if so, why did it go from full availibility starting @125E to "Diamond Force" @265E? overnight?

or is there something more to it?

I will hold the res and see what happens in few weeks/months. It seems odd that they won't be able to accomodate me at 125E but Hilton.com is willing to make reservation at 265E......
