If you need to check out some time before your flight, the Executive Lounge has a shower you will be allowed to use, and you will probably be allowed to store your luggage there (if it isn't a steamer trunk or a group load of luggage.)
The remise drivers about the hotel are quite reliable - you can easily hire one for a day tour within, or outside of, Buenos Aires. It's a great way to really see a lot, as you can be dropped off and have someone waiting for you when you are through touring an area.
I've never had a bad meal at Cabaa Las Lilas over the years - a waiter or two are snooty, but it's easy to break the ice with them as well. (Some places people are afraid to show their ignorance of English, and just a few words of Castillian "Spanish" will help.) If you want what appears to be a touristy restaurant but is a really excellent and colorful parrilla, try Asador Criollo Las Nazarenas (Reconquista 1132 - Tel/Fax: (54-11) 4312-5559.) If you like walking, it's a nice walk, toward the Sheraton and then inland.
Excellent information from top to bottom. [About security in Puerto Madero: it was quiet there even when, to many Argentines, the country seemed to be on the edge of political collapse after the economic meltdown. Petty crime and inconveniences due to socio-political machinations/manifestations (read: strikes, protests) are generally unlikely to encroach into Puerto Madero.]Originally Posted by JDiver
One thing about staying in Puerto Madero - because it is originally the port area, it is the Navy port police that patrol here - a greater and more reliable presence than the Bs As city police. Puerto Madero is pretty safe. Walking back from the ferry to picturesque Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay (I highly recommend the day trip) for example, is OK. And though it appears slightly isolated, a few minutes' walk and you can be almost anywhere you want in the main area - theatre to shopping, La Recoleta to Casa Rosada. For those Hilton Buenos Aires' guests who after check-out want to shower up before an evening flight but are not entitled to Exec. Floor access -- basically non-Gold/non-Diamonds at this hotel -- the alternative is to have luggage stored in the lobby and then shower up in the gym showers on the 7th floor.

Yes, that doesn't exist... The best you'll find is $135 with full prepayment non cxl, best chances are with a Sat. arrival.Originally Posted by GUWonder
Thanks, but I'm looking for the $105/night rate for Buenos Aires. The previous method of local Buenos Aires travel agency to get that sort of rate (with a voucher to be picked up on arrival) is failing me now.
Enjoy.

I got the Hilton e-mail with the $105 offer today. Did you try double occupancy, at least 3 days, and are you booking 21 days out? T&C below:Originally Posted by GUWonder

I tried that, but I couldn't get days that worked for me and had it last night. Maybe they've finally loaded the rates and I should check again.

Did the email specifically mention the Hilton BA, or just that that was the lowest rate available in Latin America / Caribbean?Originally Posted by GUWonder

Empire's owner/manager is/was Australian (IIRC) and he was trying to get a compatriot a job at the Hilton. I wonder if there is a relationship there. Anyone know?

Just completed a 6-nt award stay at the Buenos Aires Hilton. A truly remarkable hotel. It's only 5 years old and looks and feels brand new. As a Gold, I was upgraded to the Exec level. The room was really nice with very comfy beds and a large bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. The lounge was huge with a full hot breakfast every morning and beverages throughout the day, with an "afternoon tea" from 3 - 5 and cocktails and light food after 6:30. The pool was right outside the lounge and down a half floor, connected by steps between the 7th and 8th floors. The exercise room, on the 7th level is also connected by steps to the pool and features a good variety of equipment. The head concierge, Victor, speaks flawless English and is very helpful with restaurants and tours. The hotel is located in the new Puerto Madero area east of the center of town where many large international corporations are locating and high-rise apartment buildings are popping up. Many upscale restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel (including the overrated Cabaa Las Lilas--try the Tierra de Parrilleros instead, only a 2-minute walk from the hotel). Great service throughout. It's definitely worth a visit if you're going to Buenos Aires.
Great property
We are visiting the BA Hilton for a week in March. Would like to get in touch with the concierge- does anyone have an email address for them?

I recommended this hotel to a friend who is going with her husband and their small child. They booked for three people in the room, which was about $30 more than for two people - no suites are available for their dates. I have only stayed in a room at this hotel with a king size bed. Do the rooms with two beds have two twin beds or two double beds? If they're getting a rollaway anyway, they'll probably switch to a Queen room. Thank you!
