Hilton Properties with Water View

I really need a vacation and was looking for a Hilton Property with a great view of something, preferably water. Any suggestions? Anywhere in the world or the US. Thanks.

If you fancy comming to London, doubletree docklands riverside has amazing views across the Thames river.
Book a " double double" family room and request room 441...... It has balcony and great views, I've sat out there many times watching the sun go down with a glass of red.

Caribe Hilton in San Juan PR. It has hammocks tied between palm trees on the beach and the remains of a ruined fort like structure at the water's edge.

Most beach resorts would have water views.

SF Hilton is big tall convention hotel with views of the bay and bridges, including the Golden Gate, from some of the rooms.

IIRC the Hilton at convention center in San Diego is on the water.

Embassy Suites Niagara Falls has a good overhead view of the Canadian Falls from upper floors that's hard to get elsewhere. (It's certainly a very different view than from the stand-alone tower somewhat nearby, which is set too far back to get an isolated view of the falls from overhead.) Though whether that's worth spending more than a day or two there I'm not sure.

Any Hilton in New Zealand: Waitemata harbour, Lake Taupo or Lake Wakatipu.

Serious question. Why the focus on a view? Do you want to do anything else on vacation but sit and enjoy the view? Knowing the answer to that would probably help narrow down any recommendations.

I have been many places in the world but it's nice to come back after a long day and see some water. Like in Amsterdam or Venice. I just thought readers might have some different ideas.

I think you need to clarify what kind of water. There is everything from ponds to oceans. I would say probably 75% of hotels can see some kind of water.

mphall Mar 30, 2016 11:32 am

Not a pond or stream. I was hoping for ocean, sea, or river.

Do you mean Évian-les-Bains or just Evian? I'm asking because they put a bottle of Evian in my Hilton Frankfurt king size executive room (free upgrade) and the view was just great. Not just of the bottle of water but it also had a magnificent view over Frankfurt am Main, like a historic tower and church, the sky scrapers in the city center and even of the mountains in the far distance.

There's one hotel, I think it doesn't even have a thread here. Hampton Inn Lake Placid, some rooms have a big balcony with Adriondac chairs, that offer a great view over the city lake. I would urge you to pay extra for this room type. But even from the within the dining hall and outside patio the view is great. The hotel is next to the local brewpub and has a manager's reception.

Other favorites of mine are Hilton Mainz (river view rooms) and Hilton Bonn (courtyard/river view rooms with balcony), walk to beer gardens.

Doubletree NDSM Wharf Amsterdam corner rooms have an impressing view of Amsterdam's Y-river, with floor to ceiling windows all over. Remember to close curtains while in bathroom.

IIRC the (newish) Hilton in The Hague is located along a small canal.

Hard to make a recommendation when places as diverse as Maui, South Beach, New York City, San Antonio, New Orleans, Niagara Falls and Venice all have hotels that qualify.

mphall Mar 30, 2016 2:11 pm

I thought the Hilton in Athens, Venice and Berlin had great views. It was such a treat.

How many Arctic HH properties are there? I would think that's a pretty small list, even without a water view restriction.

Sorry it was taken so literally, I think you know what I meant. Hot, cold or something in between.

the Hilton mainz on the rhine river. not far from Frankfurt airport. nice little old town. you can buy a day ticket and ride the train along the rhine getting off wherever you like. I think you can catch the rhine river boat cruises here too............also with the sale going on, the Bangkok millennium can be had super cheap. it is on the river.

Now that is what I am talking about right there.

Seriously, the OP would be better served to just figure out some places they might like to go to and then check to see if Hilton has a presence there. Hilton has a pretty big footprint (it's why a lot of us stick around!) and has properties in most places of interest (with exceptions of course, like the head-scratcher that is Taiwan). And Hilton properties tend to be in pretty good locations, like on the water where there is water.

Hilton Melbourne South Wharf has one of my favorite views. I took this from my room.

Bonn. Also on the Rhine. Ask for a room with a view to the river.

I was just going to say the same thing with roughly the same view (and fantastic staff... And they got me in a 2 bedroom "apartment" on a points stay last month)... The view from my room at the British Colonial Hilton in the Bahamas) last week was spectacular but I had/have too many other issues (noise, unfufilled promises of management call back, feeling nickle and dimed with the resort/energy/manditory gratuity/valet/etc. Fees) with that property to recommend it for anything but the view / unless you had another reason to be in The Bahamas).

(Disclosure: that was a business trip)

IrisT Apr 4, 2016 11:24 am

If you are considering Niagara Falls, I decided on the Hilton rather than ES after reading several reviews of both properties. I will have a review of the Hilton with pictures at the end of April, if you are interested.

mphall Apr 5, 2016 2:23 pm

This has been so helpful. I love the pictures from the room. We had an awesome view from the Hilton Berlin.

pinniped Apr 5, 2016 4:48 pm

Hilton Luxor...our room directly overlooked the Nile, nothing but a footpath between our room and the river.

DT Doheny Beach (Dana Point, CA). A rather modest, older Doubletree, often inexpensive, with very nice ocean views from your balcony.

Most Hawaiian Hiltons would do the trick. :)
