2 Stays or 1 ?

I am travelling to Cardiff and have booked a twin room for me and my son for 2 nights,my wife and daughter are then joining us for 1 night so i have made another booking for 1 night in a family room.
Any chance this will gett under the radar and count as 2 stays or merge both bookings as one?

I have done this before and the second booking didn't register at all on my account. I had to contact Hhonors to get the second stay added to my account. All that happened was the points for the first booking were modified and it counted as one stay as I expected. The system seems to only let you have one stay when booking multiple rooms over the same nights. You might get lucky but don't expect it.

I would say that there is little chance that it will count as more than 1 stay.

You're staying in one room for two nights, then a different room the third night? You should get credit for all the money, three nights, and one stay. The hotel might (depending on how busy it is) give you the same room for all three nights.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Thought you had 2 rooms for the last night. In this case, I would say definitely 3 nights, 1 stay, as they will merge the 2 bookings into one.

You'll get the points for both rooms but you'll only get the stay credit/ recognition for the 1st room... i.e. you're account will have 2 nights 1 stay credited.

It's often suggested you need to ask the front desk to merge the folios onto one to get the points for both rooms, although personally I've still always had to phone HHonors to get the credit for the second room.

EDIT:

Sorry I'm now confused by above posts...

If it's 1 room for 2 nights followed by a third night on the separate reservation then it'll be 3 nights one stay.

If it's 1 room for 2 nights and a second room for your wife and daughter on that second night too, then it'll be as my post above - 1 stay 2 nights (ie. no stay credit for the second room but for points).

Another question about stays.

If I have a paid stay for two nights, followed by an award stay for 1 night, followed by a paid stay for two nights at the same property, will I earn two stays or will it all be merged into one?

All one stay if at the same property. If you do the one night award stay somewhere else it will be three stays.

I didn't think that award stays received stay credit at all...

Hilton reward stays earn stay credit.
From the terms and conditions:

11.The number of Reward Stays and the number of nights during a Reward Stay will count towards the number of stays and/or nights required for Elite tier qualification.

Yes.
From the terms and conditions(you can review them yourself here):

5.A Member may earn Base Points for up to two rooms per stay, if all eligible charges for both rooms are paid on one folio. Base Points will be earned for all eligible folio charges incurred on both rooms. The term "eligible folio charges" is defined below. Bonus Points issued on Base Points, including tier bonuses (15%, 25% or 50%, depending on Member tier), Bonus Points earned through the HHonors Points and HHonors Points Earning Style Option and double or triple Base point promotions, will apply to the total Base point credit earned for both rooms. For any other bonuses, including HHonors Marketing Partner Bonus Points and other promotional bonuses, Bonus Points will be awarded on one room only. For purposes of obtaining tier status, a Member may receive one stay credit on one room only. For purposes of earning miles for stays, miles may only be earned on one room only.
You can negotiate event planner points with the hotel.

If you put all the rooms on one folio, you should get credit for all the money spent (you certainly will if you use a Hilton credit card for their points).

No. The MAXIMUM is only 2 rooms points credit, no matter how many rooms you put on the folio. See the exact T&C jerry a. Laksa quoted

He has to use his government credit card. So no extra points from charging the rooms.

sethb Apr 8, 2014 3:18 pm

2 rooms points credit, but full dollar credit.
