Any chance this will gett under the radar and count as 2 stays or merge both bookings as one?

Any chance the wife has an HH account too? If so, book the family under her account and let her get credit/points.

Another question about stays.

If I have a paid stay for two nights, followed by an award stay for 1 night, followed by a paid stay for two nights at the same property, will I earn two stays or will it all be merged into one?

I'd suggest booking the award stay under a different name. Then the two paid stays will count as separate stays. Back-to-back reservations count as one stay if they are booked under the same name.

im planning on making a reservation as follows.

April 11 - April 15 (4Nights) / (4 Rooms)

April 14 - April 15 (1Night) / (5 Rooms)

All under my name and all under my gov credit card. HHonors Specialist said it would only count for 1 stay and 4 nights and will only get hhonors points for 2 rooms only.

is this correct? im getting 9 Rooms total...

If this happens a lot, sign someone else up for HH and split the reservations between the accounts so you maximize the HH credit.

You might have to switch rooms a couple of times if you do that.

If you put all the rooms on one folio, you should get credit for all the money spent (you certainly will if you use a Hilton credit card for their points).

2 rooms points credit, but full dollar credit.

Only if you use a HH credit card (of course you will receive credit card points for the spend for all the rooms if you put them on the credit card regardless of whether you put them on one folio). Putting the other room charges on one folio will not result in you receiving points for the spend beyond two rooms (unless of course the hotel or HH makes a mistake).

As jerry a.laska stated (and the t&c), you get credit for TWO rooms only. Base points are = 10x room price (without taxes or service charges) for a MAXIMUM of TWO rooms. No matter how many other rooms you put into the folio, you get the same result. Base points for DOLLAR SPEND for TWO rooms. The other rooms spend = ZERO points.

As he is using a government CC, he gets ZERO points for total CC spend. You can ONLY get points for total CC spend with a HILTON branded CC. All other cards = ZERO points.

In fact, often times, you must call to even get the points for the second room. It often does not happen automatically.

The only way to maximize points is to have others w/HHonors accts to put 2 rooms each on their acct.

Here's another technique I've used: I've had the front desk transfer $X from someone else's folio to mine (because they paid for dinner or something). I'm pretty sure I got credit for the $X part of my bill.

Back-to-Back stays

This past weekend, for the first time ever with Hilton, I had a stay consisting of two different reservations (doing so was cheaper than one two-night reservation). Both nights (reservations) show as "pending" in my account details; the first one has the points breakdown available (exactly what I'd expected to earn). When Hilton gets the second night's submission from the hotel, what will eventually happen? I'm assuming that they'll each post separately, with my stay counter advancing two nights and one stay? The extra 1000 Diamond stay points would be nice, but I'm not counting on it. I've already re-qualified for status, so was just curious how these things post.

Thanks!

When this has happened to me, the points ( all the points for both reservations )
have posted under one of the reservations.
The second reservation ends up showing 0 points.
And make sure to check that the nights from both reservations get registered.
I recently had an issue with only the nights from one of the reservations showing on my status bar although I got the appropriate amount of points from both reservations.

You will get 1 stay credit and 2 nights credits. Consecutive nights are defined as ONE stay, no matter how many time you check in and out in between and no matter how many different reservations are used. You will only get 1 Diamond stay credit (1000 points, not 2000) since you only had 1 stay.

I fully understand that. I was just curious because the hotel seems to have submitted the reservations for HHonors credit separately, not combined after my departure.

missamo80 Sep 30, 2014 12:41 pm

You'll wind up seeing 0 for the second stay in the list. Make sure the first stay has the total number of points for the combined two nights, in my case it didn't and I had to chase the missing points with Hhonors.

If you were to stay in 2 separate Hilton hotels in the space of 24hrs - would that be treated as 2 stays and 2 nights?

i.e 1 night London airport hotel, next day fly and check into a hotel in say Germany?

In your scenario, checking in at Hilton LHR T4 the evening of 1OCT14 and checking out the following morning and flying to DUS and checking in on 2OCT14 would obviously be two separate stays and 2 nights.

Thanks, folks! It does seem to have gone through as one stay, two nights and the correct number of points in my account (Base + triple weekend (addl 2x) + double points rate paid (addl 1x) + Diamond bonus and pts + pts (addl 1x) and the 1000 Doubletree stay points).
