Hilton Grand Vacation Suites at the Flamingo {US-NV}
Just got off the phone with my parents, who are staying at the Las Vegas Flamingo hotel tonight. I gave them a Hilton upgrade to use. When they checked in, the guy was quite rude to them in telling them that the hotel is "no longer a hilton and you can't use the upgrade or get HHonors points." Anyone know about this? I booked the stay 2 weeks ago off hilton.com and the hotel website ( http://www.lv-flamingo.com/ ) still lists it as the "Las Vegas Flamingo Hilton."

I'm actually very concerned about this.
I e-mailed Adam Burke last week, and have not heard back from him yet.
When I checked with Paris and Bally's about upcoming stays, one of the reservation agents said a similar thing.
With the reported sale of the Las Vegas Hilton, and the roumor being that Park Place properties will no longer be part of the HHonors system, I am very concerned that there may not be a Hilton affiliated casino in Las Vegas - which accounts for a good chunck of my business stays.
When I hear back, I will post an update.

I am very concerned as well.
Next weekend (NOV 10-13)I will be staying at the LAS Hilton. I'm paiying a very high rate (109 Friday, 129 Sat, 239 Sun), just for the points and to count for status.
I was going to try and use an upgrade coupon as well.

Just checked the HH web site and the Flamingo still exists... Perhaps it is not up-to-date...

This information comes directly from Casino Player Magazine for November 2000.
"The three Flamingo Hilton casino hotels in Las Vegas, Laughlin and Reno, owned by Park Place Entertainment, will drop the Hilton name by the end of this year, and will operate as the Flamingo Las Vegas, Flamingo Laughlin and Flamingo Reno. San Francisco real estate developer Ed Roski Jr., who recently purchased the Las Vegas Hilton for $365 million, announced that he plans to keep the Hilton name under a separate licensing agreement with Hilton Hotels."
No specific word that I could find on Bally's or Paris. That is too bad, I had several HHonors stays at those locations in the past year.

As I understand Hilton, If you booked it on their site, they will honor it as a stay....Who knows about points or upgrades....
I don't think we have anything to worry about for the remainder of this year...it's the next that worries me.

I would surmise that the majority of reservations at the Hilton gaming properties are NOT as a result of the Hilton affiliation. They are almost always going to be at/near capacity at high weekend rates almost year-round, and probably don't want to have to offer "perks" to anyone but those who drop lots of cash in their ringing coffers. Starwood has NO remaining Nevada properties, but is now going to have a limited Caesar's affiliation, without any promise of any "benefits" at the property. Nevada gaming properties have always been different. I was at the LV Hilton within a few days after the sale was announced, and received no discernible gold benefit at all.

My wife and I stayed at the Flamingo Hilton Las Vegas from Oct. 22 to Oct. 26, and the HHonors points for that stay, along with the double-dip airline miles are already showing in my account.
Word is that after the first of the year, you will not be able to acrue HHonors points at the Flamingo, due to Park Place Entertainment taking over many of Hiltons gaming properties.
Don't know if this will also be the case with Ballys or Paris after Jan. 1, or if you will still be able to use reward points for the Flamingo, etc.
Perhaps Adam can give us the complete lowdown on what happens after Jan 1.
Markbach, your parents, I think, were mislead, and the check-in guys' rudeness was quite unnecessary. They should have gone to the assistant managers' desk, right off the check-in area, to verify the info.

I stayed the the Flamingo Laughlin at the start of the month. I did not present my HHonors number at checkin, butgave the details of the stay on through the HHonors website. I was credited within 10 days

I've heard from Adam Burke at Hilton.
He is trying to get some difinitive answers, but until further notice, everything in Vegas is as it was. Properties booked through Hilton earn HHonors points and are supposed to be honoring VIP status for upgrades (if available).
If this will change, when it will change, how it will change, .......we're waiting for the answers.

Just there last week. As I understood it, the Flamingo Hilton (and the other Park Place hotels) had a licensing agreement with Hilton through the end of the year. I don't know whether or not that applies to all the Park Place hotels (Paris, Bally's, etc.) or just the Flamingos (Laughlin, LAS, RNO). What a disappointment. On the other hand, I also tried out the DoubleTree and, while it's not on the Strip and doesn't have a casino, the customer service was outstanding. If you have to go to LAS, try it once and see if it works for you.
