So I went with Waldorf for several reasons. First, as a Hilton Aspire cardholder, after making the reservation and being charged a deposit, I received the annual $250 resort credit. Also, I prefer the $25 x 2 F&B or spa credit per day for elites to the Elara's free Starbucks. And while Elara is closer, I understand one can walk thru the Aria stores and then cross towards PH, so I'm going to give it a try this summer.

I'm not sure when your last conference at PH was, but a few years ago, they refurbished the rooms, which definitely made it better --those movie-themed rooms were cute, but really worn and tacky. However, the refurb doesn't change the overall dark vibe of the place.

I would totally stay at Bellagio at similar rates, or Cosmo for Marriott points, and I'm trying the WA and earning some Hhonors points this time. I believe my membership year turns over before my stay, so I should get another $250 resort credit, and that brings the price at the WA inline with Elara.

I can't imagine why any Hilton Honors member would stay at the Elara unless perhaps Silver
Sure its the nicest of the Grand Vacations properties and a great choice for those with no status
But why one earth would anyone go there to receive virtually nothing in the way of recognition for their loyalty?
No upgrade for Diamonds ever unless buying up to a better room, no breakfast credit or complimentary breakfast and robotic check ins that are typically insincere and no late check outs without winning the lottery
I suppose if a cup of coffee and a bottle of cheap water appeal to some seeking recognition I suppose then perhaps its a fair option
When Elara first opened they were reasonably good upgrading one and two categories but now???They got greedy plain and simple
Waldorf is one of the top choices in town and while not perfect the best Hilton has ever had in the history of Las Vegas by far and may get better with their planned renovation
Their breakfast too remains easily when on point the top 5 in Las Vegas hands down
For myself its Cosmopolitan as a Marriott Titanium with 2 PM check out and a breakfast credit or points and a room upgrade
Aria or Vdara as an Mlife member and earn World Of Hyatt points(double points promotion currently)
For those that may be American Express Membership Rewards customers there are some fantastic targeted offers out there so check your offers by logging in
or Palazzo or Venetian as an Ambassador in IHG
Those are generally my go to properties and in the right situation perhaps the Delano for their all suite concepts but understanding the team members there
seem to hate working for MGM and can be uncaring mean and unhelpful. The accommodation are very nice but the location meh

For me the Elara is my top choice and I’m Lifetime diamond. I travel with family and the extra space of the rooms, non smoking and non gaming, and kitchen / laundry in the room is the winner. Location is also great and rates generally not too bad.

life would be boring if we all wanted the same things !

Ok, read through this and understand that Diamond benefits are basically non-existant here.

That being said, will the sandwich method work here? Would like to book a 1 br suite and get an upgrade to a 2 br

I can't imagine that. The one bedroom suite is what I normally get. I once booked two 1 bedroom suites and when I checked in was able to instead pay a reasonable upcharge to a single 2 bedroom suite saving a significant amount of money.

If you care about the view. The higher the better IMO. I have never been denied a room on one of the higher floors.

Any recent stays. Have to go out here on a work trip later this year. Hate staying at the casinos -- have previously stayed here and at the Grand Chateau across the street. Unfortunately the latter is out of policy so this seems like the best "on-strip" option (yes I know technically it is off strip) that lets me still walk to/from the conference hotel. Otherwise I'll just grab somewhere off strip and Uber/Taxi every day but would prefer being walking distance

I have been a fan during past stays -- don't really care about the elite treatment (I'm on expenses anyway). Mainly just that the rooms are still solid and clean, the beds are still comfortable, and they still don't allow smoking in the hotel.

I do care about elite recognition so I am far more pleased almost elsewhere else.
But I agree fully with your assessment otherwise as a sold place to stay with no elite status or need for recognition upgrades breakfast late check out etc

New to this place with no Hilton status, booked via Interval timeshare exchange.

Is it true that there is no free self parking any more? ($18 self or $30 valet) We will have to pay $25 daily resort fee and $9 something for Internet too?

Last time we were there, parking was free in the Miracle Miles Shops car park. From 2021, they started charging. Looking at their website, it states charges for 24 hours are $18 Mon -Fri and $23 Fri - Sun. Don't think you can avoid the daily resort fee, which seems so common these days in US hotels. Interval Timeshare Exchange may have different terms.

Thanks, Chris.

When I call Interval, they send me back to hotel based on "resort fee may apply" in their notes. When I ask hotel directly, they refer me back to Interval and told me everyone pays resort fee. I checked with a Hilton TS owner at this property via another website and he told me that he does not have to pay resort fee since this is his home resort and there is no more free parking at Miracle Miles which he too is not happy about. I guess we will find out in a couple months when we get there.

I stayed at this property in May for a work assignment. As others have mentioned, there are absolutely Zero Honors benefits, such as upgrades.

I was thoroughly unimpressed by the lack of housekeeping. There were limited towels in my room, and obtaining additional linens proved to be difficult, despite leaving multiple requests with the front desk. Speaking of which, the Front Desk is consistently understaffed, and attempting to contact them via the Room Phone results in hold times exceeding 10 minutes in many cases.

In terms of location, the property is quite nice and centrally located on the strip. If I were a gambler, I would probably have enjoyed the property much more. There is a free do-it-yourself laundry facility available, which is a convenient amenity.

Lastly, if you have T-Mobile or AT&T, the cell reception within the property and just outside is incredibly poor. I had to use a Calling Card to make calls from the room. Fortunately, they do not charge for Toll-Free Calling.

Interesting. A search for Vegas hotels today brought up results of the Elara, but also a "NEW" hotel: Elara Club.

I must have missed what's going on here. Anyone have scoop on what this is?

They have built out some new rooms inside the Elara. I believe they are on some of the higher floors and are supposed to have higher end finishes as compared to the existing rooms. I think there is also a lounge, that is likely restricted to owners of that specific set of rooms through HGVC.

Update on Property

I have reservations for this property over New Years. Any updates on what to expect for Diamond status and are there any upgrades provided or do I need to pay for an upgrade to higher floor?

please let me know your experience

Historically the property was generous with upgrades to Diamonds many years ago and today it’s pretty much take what you book. The policy over the years is an upsell at check in and instead of breakfast 1000 points
They see Hilton program members as a cash cow nothing more.
Body in and body out
There is no guest experience and at this point with a resort fee and a nice but dated product it’s a hard pass for me. Waldorf for me all the way if I chose to stay Hilton in Vegas.
