Andrea, thank you very much for being part of the Flyertalk community.
It's great to see that Hilton is keeping track of what we discuss here.
Best wishes for you and the whole Loyalty Team at Hilton, for the 2009 Christmas season and the 2010 calendar year!

354 hotels are moving up in price (points) and you gave me an article that lists 10. Not much help.
"while it will move 354 others (or 10%) into a pricier category. "
Hotels that will be raised into a pricier point category:
Hilton Orlando 40,000 50,000
Conrad Tokyo 40,000 50,000
Hilton San Diego Resort And Spa 40,000 50,000
Conrad Hong Kong 40,000 50,000
Hilton Times Square 40,000 50,000
Hilton Hawaiian Village 40,000 50,000
Hilton Bentley Miami South Beach 40,000 50,000
Chicago Thewit A Doubletree Hotel 35,000 40,000
Hilton Alexandria Old Town 35,000 40,000
Hilton Los Angeles Checkers 35,000 40,000

"If you have Hilton HHonors points, expect the majority - 2,575, or 74% - of Hilton's 3,476 properties to stay in the same category, HHonors chief Jeffrey Diskin told me in a recent interview. The rest?
Hilton will move 547 properties (or 16% of total) into a cheaper points category, while it will move 354 others (or 10%) into a pricier category. (These changes come on top of the 20% increase in the number of points required for a free night's stay across Hilton's system.) "
Confusing since Mr. Diskin's makes it sound like 74% of the properties will stay in the same category when we know that they will require more points per award stay. Gotta love the marketing lingo these guys are using to make this sound less horrible!!
I really wish HH would stop beating around the bush with this and just post the darn award chart with the corresponding hotel categories already!!!

I heard a cat 7 is going to be 50K points/night. Unless there is some sort of discount for a 4 night stay the current cat 5 hotels in Florida that I stay at will be Cat 7 come Jan and 200K points for 4 nights.
Today those same hotels are 125K points for 4 nights so that is a HUGE INCREASE !

I think that this article is somewhat misleading and makes the program changes sound less horrible then they actually are. Overall the description is confusing but the most important part of the information IMHO is being lost in the article....the overall close to 20% devaluation...

Why can't Hilton just release the list already and stop the speculation? No matter how bad the news is, it's got to be better than not knowing.

A four night at a Cat 7 will be 170K (not 200K) for those with status.

Thanks for the input about the other Italian cities, TULOKCICT. Seems like I could probably do a 4 night stay in either if I wanted to, but still might be pushing it for touristy. I'm sill trying to figure where to burn my 600k of points. Before the last devaluation I went to Hawaii, but already have a Hawaii trip planned for next year. Too much Hawaii for one year to go again

Yes, there will be discounts for 4, 5, and 6 or more nights (for VIPs):

Thanks, I can just about scrape out 170K a year as I rarely stay at hotels and it'a 99% credit card usage.
I have to work on some 10K referral bonuses, lol

I've booked a GLON507 (175k) for 7 nights at the Imperial Dubrovnik in May.
The HHonours Customer Service Representative I spoke to when I booked it told me that this hotel is moving up to a Cat 7 and that a GLON507 under the new rates for a Cat 7 would be 260k.
Quite a saving.

Yup, that's exactly what I thought.
Never been to Croatia before and the reviews for the hotel are good and it is right by the City walls.
