A question for Adam Burke
Hi Adam,
thanks for all the good news about the HHonors changes. They sound great!
I have a question that you may perhaps be able to answer: the 2000 AAdvantage Platinum Guide states, on p.17-18, that AA Platinum members are eligible for a joint promotion w/HHonors. Basically, AA offers double AA miles for every Double Dip stay at participating Hiltons until 2/28/01. AA advise their Platinum members to book the stays w/Hilton using the code AAPO.
I tried using this code for an upcoming reservation, but two res. agents at HHonors couldn't find it, and the CS agents at AAdvantage were totally baffled and had never heard of this promo or code before.
I thought that perhaps you may be able to enlighten us about it. I suspect that AA didn't share the info properly, but, unfortunately, no-one in the AA forum offically represents the airline, so I can only pose the question to you...
Thanks a lot for all you work on this board.

Sorry Chix,
I don't believe this promo is valid for Gold members. Well, if it makes you feel better, right now this promo doesn't seem to be available to Platinum members either .

This came out of the AA Platinum guide? I still haven't seen mine, but this sounds like a great promo. When did this start and where is the AAPO code supposed to go if you are booking on-line reservations thru the Hilton web site?

Hello all. I know the promotion you're referencing, and the double miles are being automatically handled in American's system. Shouldn't be any need for you to book any differently than usual. Having said that, however, I've asked for a copy of the collateral so we can ensure that the offer was properly communicated. I'll let you know as soon as I receive a copy.
Best regards,
Adam

I spoke with Hilton Corp yesterday. I will
attempt to explain what Adam & Kathy shared
without introducing new/add'l confusion.
This double miles bonus applies for:
- Starting w/fifth stay after 1-Mar-00
- Membership level must be:
(AA Plat or ExecPlat)
-and-
(Hilton Gold or Diamond)
The "Request Code" (AAPO or AEPO) is not
required on each reservation. HHonors says
that this is an AA misprint. It is only
required for those enrolling in HHonors
for the very first time.
There is still confusion regarding the
promo start date:
- AA says 1-Jan-00
- HHonors says 1-Mar-00
The HHonors Svc Center is definitely wrong
when they told me that it was only open
to HH-Gold; not HH-Diamond. (I was just
about ready to ask for a downgrade <g> )

Adam, I have a few questions...
Dear Adam, I always appreciated your help on HIlton HHonors questions and I have come up with a few that maybe you can help myself and other Flyertalkers with.
They may have been answered before but I am still confused:

Thanks for your help and being a member of the Flyertalk Family.

Hello Catman et al. To clarify a couple points regarding Mileage plus Nights:
> The offer is NOT retroactive. You can only earn HHonors bonus points for qualifying United flights AFTER you've registered for the promotion.
> The promotion runs through September 30, 2000. It has not been extended through the end of the year.
Thanks again for everyone’s interest and participation!

So those who posted on the UA board that they had actually received points posthumously back to September 1999, after signing up recently were wrong?
Hmmmm.

Adam,
Sorry to dredge up this old thread.
If I remember right this promo has been run twice hasn't it? Didn't it run from June '99 to June '00 and then again for a few months later in '00? It was an awesome promo but I think I'm missing around 10k points and am trying to to reconcile the balances...not fun!

dingo,
Actually, the promotion was simply extended -- it ran continuously through September 30, 2000. Sorry you haven't been properly credited to date. Please forward all the details to me by e-mail and we'll get it cleared up this week.
Best regards,
Adam
