Any idea?
Hey folks,
I read on here about collecting points and getting upgrades...and I wonder, is this applicable to the UK at all? Am I perhaps just doing something wrong? I'm a member of "Hertz #1 Club Gold" in the UK. When I turn up at a UK airport, they sometimes have it in as a "Gold Booking", if I'm lucky, so I can just sign the paper, take the keys and drive. However there is no mention of collecting points for renting, and certainly no mention of "Five Star" that I've read about on here, anywhere on the Web site (www.hertz.co.uk). In addition, whenever I rent in the US, I *never* have it confirmed as a Gold booking. I turn up and they are surprised to see my gold card! Am I signed up to the wrong program??! :) -simon |
Make sure you book through hertz's UK site and ensure that you are logged in with your Gold membership on the site. Then the Gold #1 number will be appended to your reservation when you reserve a car.

Sanosuke! Also, I've never seen any form of points on the Hertz site! -simon |
Aha!
I filled in the "Contact Us" form on the WebSite, and received the following reply:
Thank you for your email. I confirm I have upgraded you to Five Star as you have 10 rentals on your profile. I think all the rentals have been registered under your Gold number, however you did not sign for Gold Service in the US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Please go on-line, update this, print the form and send it back to us to the contact below. Well, apart from the fact that I still don't seem to get any "Hertz Points". Are these US only? Thanks, -simon |

If you go to www.hertz.com and select the United States as your country of residence, you get an extra tab under the #1 Club section on the left - called "#1 Awards". In the terms and conditions, it says: You must be a resident of U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, or St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. to participate in the program. Cheers, -simon |
