Vehicle Type - Changes on Website
Well this is interesting or just a temporary glitch ?
I have booked an Audi A6 for two weeks from LAX in January, it seems that car is no longer offered and it's all Jags or Lincoln's as the Prestige collection!  The Audi A8 is still there but that's booked out in most locations until July/August   Also lots of the cars are no longer listed as models instead you get something like this "Premium Elite Sports Car Auto Unspecified Drive Unspecified Fuel/Power with Air" This is not really helpfull at all  Considering I booked the AUDI A6 as a guarantee and not a "or similar" I can't wait to see what they put me in. An Audi A8 would be nice, but pass on the Jags Thoughts ????? |
Hey I have the same problem!
I booked and Audi A6 at IAH from December 29th until January 6th, and yesterday I was trying to change it for the Cadillac STS (because of the V8 engine), and I found that the Audi A6 is no longer listed. I checked the Prestige Collection list at Houston and I found that there are only available the Cadillac STS, Lincoln LS, Hummer H2 and the Lincoln Navigator.
Please I need your help I want to know which car I'm getting instead of the Audi A6 or if I have any possibility to get a Cadillac STS. Does anybody know why Hertz is doing this? Thanks in advance Sergio Maruri |
I also noticed that the car types are now listing fuel type and transmission. This for an upcoming rental I was quoting at DFW:
Midsize 2-4 Door Auto Unspecified Drive Unspecified Fuel/Power with Air Strange! Perhaps we're going to start getting manual transmission and veggie oil powered cars from Hertz? :) |
Still nothign changed on the website.
Not happy! |
I'm hoping it's a 'glitch' on the site. I have an Escalade reserved starting this Thursday for about 10 days for pickup from ATL airport; but the website no longer shows Escalade's as being available in the 'vehicle guide'. I will call shortly to try and figure this out and will keep everyone posted on the recent changes!
BTW, not sure if this is old news or not (did a quick search), but has anyone noticed how the 'GREEN' collection cars are now listing as part of the 'Unique Collection' ? |
I doubt you will be getting the Escalade now :(
Yes they have change the Green cars to Unique |
It's not unusual for the website not to show the extact types of specialist cars available at locations as you can imagine. So either Hertz will have the car you booked or compensate you with an alternative.
The "Green collection" never made sense, if you were "Green" then you'd probably take a bike or public transport instead of renting a car. So that was a blunder!:D :-: |

Now the cars are just called "Luxury Elite Sports Car Auto Unspecified Drive Unspecified Fuel/Power with Air" The Audi A8 is still there, even though its booked out til abotu August |
So I spoke to several different people and all confirmed that the car (Escalade) still exists and that I should have no problems picking it up in a few days.
One of them did mention that they are making some changes; but didn't explain the scope of such in regards to the various cars and classes. BTW - it would be a massive devaluation of service if they start to list Prestige cars by "group" type similar to the non-prestige cars. :td: :td: It just may be that time to take advantage of our corporate agreement with National and make the switch. |
I seem to recall this happening around this time last year....the car descriptions for specific vehicles get very vague. I always thought it had something to do with the model year changeover, and that certain stations might be transisitiong to newer cars or models within the same class.
I arrived at SFO on Christmas day two years ago, to pickup an S80. My name wasn't on the gold board, and they told me that the S80 they were going to give me had > 30k miles on it, and were wondering if I wanted something else (they always try to push the 'stang convertible...to which I said NO). They eventually found a recently returned S80 with 20K or so miles on it, and STILL gave me a $50 Hertz voucher for the delay and trouble. |
Well some of the model names have appeared back on the website now, but not for the higher end cars.
YET ! :) |

Looking at your profile I assume you have made many more bookings that I, BUT, when booking/looking at the Prestige cars over the past 6 or so months, it ALWAYS listed the exact car such as Landrover H3, Audi A6, Audi A8 etc.
Now the cars are just called "Luxury Elite Sports Car Auto Unspecified Drive Unspecified Fuel/Power with Air" The Audi A8 is still there, even though its booked out til abotu August I also notice the website sometimes says "no cars for this rental" when they are almost sold out and the rental is short-term. The website is holding cars back for longer-term rentals, because cars do become available if I extend the length of the rental period.;) |
a way to get around it - ain't pretty but it works
Forgive me, as I'm a newbie around here.
I too was shocked to see the car that I wanted is no longer listed but some generic name. When I called the location directly and asked them, hey, what kind of car is a "Premium Elite Sports Car", they said, "I don't know, do you have a car code"? A car code?! Ahhhh, now why the heck don't they (Hertz) just have that shown on the website next to the description ?!? Anyway, I just told him to look up my reservation # and voila, he was able to tell me that it's a Volvo S80. I also tried it with my upcoming Maui trip because I had no idea what the heck was a Luxury Elite Convertible, it turns out to be a Audi A4 Convertible. Well guys, so the trick is to go ahead and make the reservation and then call the location and ask them to pull up your file and they can tell you what car it is. If you don't like it, just cancel/change the car type to the one you like. I know it's a pain in the butt but hopefully Hertz will finally get the drift that they need to keep on top with their website with as much details as possible when it comes to the car. Especially when they start seeing lots of cancellation and then rebooking. :p Afterall, for me, that's a major part to why I rent from them because of the selection of higher quality cars compared to other companies. Hope this helped you guys. |
I'll give that a go :)
|
Well most cars now have models besides them.
Appears Hertz no longer have the Audi A6, but instead the A4 and Q7 Sighs........ I am renting from the West Hollywood HLE and Luxury Elite 2-4 Door Automatic isn't listed as a specifc car yet, what car could this be ? Or should I change to the Volvo S80 ??? HELP PLEASE :D |
