Can an additional driver drop off without a problem?

While it appears simple to add an additional driver (non-spouse or d.p.) to a rental agreement, will that additional driver be hassled if they try to drop off the car without the original driver present?

I'd like to pick up a car reserved under my #1G account, add a driver later, and then have that driver dropoff the car without me.

Thanks!

It should be no problem. The person using the credit card is on the hook for problems. Having someone else drop the car off, should not be a problem.

It is definately possible. I do it often; rent the car in my name (i'm a points wh0re) and then have my colleague return the car (he often stays longer than I).

They only asked for your license when you pick up but not when dropping off so someone else, authorized or not, would not have a problem.

Just make sure you give them the credit card you want the rental charged to when you pick up the car. They usually ask, "Keep it on the same <insert your credit card here>?" and I just say, "Yes." There is no other ID check or driver validation performed during the return.
