List Update 3/15/15

Fleet list updated as of March 15, 2015:

  • Ram 2500 added to list (S, SPAR)
  • Cadillac ATS - also tagged YI
  • Toyota Sequoia tagged T
  • Chevrolet Impala (2014+): LS and LT trims tagged F/YF, LTZ trim tagged G; recategorized accordingly
  • Chevrolet HHR removed from list
  • Buick Lucerne removed from list
  • Cadillac DTS removed from list

If any of you see an HHR, Lucerne, or DTS in the United States, don't post about it here

If you receive a Chevy Impala, please share what trim it is (be as specific as you can! 1LT vs. 2LT if possible) and what the key tag classifies it as. I have a feeling 2LT and LTZ will end up being PCARs but for now I will go with what has been reported.

I turned my Impala in tonight and the receipt at turn in + PDF receipt does show rented G, reserved F. Description on Hertz's receipt is SIRIMPALA5P2.5N.

My rental was definitely a 1LT trim (the 2nd lowest trim offered, MSRP starting at $29k)
10,900 miles. Registered/plated in Sept 2014 in Tennessee.

-LS would not have dual zone automatic climate control or an 8" display screen
-2LT would have been equipped with a 3.6L engine-
-1LTZ would have had lane departure/collision warning
-2LTZ would have had both the 3.6L and the lane departure/collision warning

I rented at ORD about 2 weeks ago. Had reserved G (Maxima) and was assigned an Impala too that said G on the key. The Gold Choice / Gold Upgrade agent claimed the car I had been assigned was "Luxury" and an upgrade whatever made her think that I do not know.

I rather struck a deal with her for a C250 for an additional 40$ a day on top of a roughly 40$ a day rate (all in). Might have been able to haggle a bit more, but it was bloody freezing and after a 20+ hrs flight I wanted to get going.

Just returned my car to Hertz at San Antonio airport. Last Wednesday when i landed checked the phone for text and said i had a Regal in stall 1 for me tried to change but it would not let me. First time gold by the way. So I get to the offsite lot and up on the gold board my name number one. (i got a picture of that) but no car in the stall. Looked around and didn't see a regal anywhere the person working outside looked up my info and ask what i wanted, i just spotted a black '14 charger getting cleaned up and i said that one, she went over and said it was mine when it was done, in the mean time someone walks out of the office and goes over to the car and drives it off. What is going on i asked her as we watched the car drive off. She was about as dumbfounded as i was she went in and came back and said they rent from there every week and they wanted that car. Ok no big deal we walk the lot and i see a gray charger(I reserved a maxima) i said how about that one. Few peck on the handheld and it was mine. Got in a a musty smell in the car it was running and looked it had 49823 miles on it and was a 13 and bare boned. Ok i can live with that. As i drove off the (didn't get any agreement nothing no paperwork) first turn the front end shook pretty good but it went away after a mile or two of driving. Got to the hotel and looked it over pretty good had Okla tags (cool born and raised there). Drove it around the rest of last week and Friday night after dinner the tag caught my eye again. Looking at it, it had expired in Apr 14!! I was going to drive to Dallas on monday and i knew that would fly i had to work Saturday and during a lunch break with other people in the car the AC goes out! Strike 3. Took it back after work to the airport i told them the issues i had and i was offered a Buick Lacrosse 2015 with 8200 miles SAT/NAV built in and XM, first words were how much extra, they said no extra cost the same price. Got it and it was night and day from the charger. It was a nice car, but they did something to the outside that if water looks at it, it gets waterspouts everywhere it was a dark brown color, just turned it back in with no problems and got the receipt with the quoted price and i asked the guy 3 times if that was the final price. It was tagged as an "I' class so an upgrade from Premium i would think. Good over all experience for the first time gold member.

Mine was also a G. I returned it earlier today. It was not on the receipt at MCO, though, only the PDF. The key tag was F and I was reserved in a C. Mine had the dual zone automatic climate control and the display screen. Mine was registered/plated in February 2015 in Florida.

Great job GW McLintock for keeping the Wiki updated ^

I think you should distinguish the popular cars that Hertz has the most, from the cars that Hertz has very few, and very little chance of getting.
for an example on the compact list: Volvo C30, Nissan Juke, Mini, Scion, Fiat, etc,

and in the luxury list I think the only cars that we usually see is the Lacrosee, 300, and the Avalon all other cars I rarely see , BMW I never spotted.

Per the instructions in the wiki, I'm documenting an update I'm making to the wiki.

Noting that the Chevy Silverado, Class S, may be 4WD. I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado LT 4WD, class S, right now from LBB.

Cheers,
LBBZman

Back in the US, so had a good look around LAX today, and a chat with my friend Annie who works the outdoor Gold desk there. Quite a few new cars since I was last here in November.

Mitsusbishi Mirage - tagged as YB. Probably a contender for the most odious car on the fleet, and they've got a lot of them in LAX at present (new this month).

Also got lots of 2015 C Class Mercs. They are all C300s. Same group as the old 2014 C250s

Finally got some of the latest shape Mazda 3 and 6 models, and there were quite a few Hyundai Santa Fe Sport (that's the 5 seater one). Strangely they key tag said YC. I checked one and was sure it was a mistake, so checked another couple and they all said the same. I 'd expect it to be an L.

Brand new in this week were a couple of Chevrolet Trax. Tagged B4, these are the same basic car as the Buick Encore, so among the smallest car in the group.

There were also a number of Ford Transit Connect, Group R, but I see those have been added to the list.

LAX currently have a Bentley Continental GT Coupe and an Aston V8 Vantage, but are still waiting for a Huracan and a new California T.

They have just 3 Range-Rover Sports, which are very popular. Only a small number of C7 Stingrays, all Coupe models.

LAX has not seen any 2015 Mustangs yet.

Been at LAX collecting and returning a car every day for the last few and had a good look at what was on site, so a few comments for the benefit of those who want to know what is common and what is rare on fleet - pertaining to LAX (and probably SoCal), only. (Note: although some cars are bought on a national basis, there is some local discretion).

Most of the elderly cars have gone, with only the odd stray with a licence plate that starts with a 6 rather than a 7. Worryingly, the E Class Mercedes are still the ones that were bought over 2 years ago! Other than that, I've seen one old Kia Forte, one old Mazda 3 and one old Malibu. All the other old model shape and 2012 model year cars appear to have gone.

There are a lot of 2015 cars on site now, including the latest versions of the Yaris (with its comedy half moon front). Camry, Charger, one lone Focus, new Sedona, as well as more familiar models.

There are a vast number of new Kia Souls waiting to be plated up, so I would guess that if you book a B Group car in the next few days, you might be spared the Mitsubishi Mirage, a large number of which were put on fleet a couple of weeks ago.

Group C will be dominated by the Elantra, as there are rows of them waiting plates. too. Have seen quite a few 2015 Cruze model and plenty of them are LTZ trim

A lot of the new Chrysler 200 on fleet, and only a handful of the old one. For those who've not driven one yet, fear not, it is class competitive! If you book an F, you are more likely to get one of these than anything else.

Plenty of the new Impala, so a G booking is most likely to be that. Hardly seen anything else in that class apart from a couple of 2014 Regals.

Group I - not many. but I'd say 50/50 a laCrosse or a 300C. Not seen anything else.

Next to no Cadillac ATS and only one old CTS, so expect a Q50 if you book the class that could give you either.

Loads of the latest W205 model C Class Mercedes, all of them C300s. There are still some of the W204 cars around, too.

Lots of new Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. Confusingly the key tag says "YC", but I guess these will be L (if AWD) or K4 (if FWD).

A whole load of Mazdas were added recently - welcome return of the CX9 at the high end and finally some 3s and 6s, as well as quite a 2015 year 5s.

Clearly been a big order of Jeeps, with all models present, inc the Grand Cherokeee (not had those on fleet in CA for years). If you book a Small SUV (B4 or Q class), you're pretty likely to get a Compass or a Patriot at present.

Far fewer of the Chrysler/Dodge MiniVans than there were, with some new 2015 Kia Sorento and the ugly Ford Transit Connect. No sign of the Sienna and only one Quest.

Only seen one (old style) Mustang Coupe and one Convertible. LAX has not received any 2015s yet. Very few Camaro, too, so I don't know what they are doing with all the convertible reservations, as the other cabrios are all out of production.

Not seen any VWs apart from a couple of old Passats.

Very few Fords - a couple of Focus, Edge and Explorers but if I understand that they just don't have many at all on fleet.

The Captivas have all but gone, and the large number of Equinoxes and Terrains also seem absent.

Apart from 1 orange Challenger R/T, not seen any Adrenaline cars at all, which could be why people are reporting difficulty booking them. Also no sign of the C6 model Corvette Convertibles. C7 models are in the Dream Collection, and they've only got a few (all Coupe Launch Edition cars).

Dream Cars: still waiting for the Panamera Hybrids, but got some old ones. Plenty of E63 AMG and S550 Mercedes, a few C63s left. CTS-Vs all went last autumn. A few of the other Porsche around, and they've just got 2 Merc G550s.

Been in PHX the past few days so now had a good look around to see what's currently on fleet there, and there is clear evidence of variations either in local buying or the local timing of deliveries.

As advised in another thread, they do have 2015 Mustangs here. Only the convertible, though, in V6 guise. If you book a convertible (U or W Group), I would say it is is 50/50 if you get a Mustang or a Camaro.

There are a lot of brand new 2015 Chargers, and plenty of new Buick Veranos and 2015 Toyota Camry (and very few of the 2014s). If you book an F, I'd say you would most likely get one of these three, though there are also a decent number of 2015 Chrysler 200s. There are only a handful of anything else.

In Group I, you'd most likely get a Cadillac XTS, as there have been a lot of these on site every time, and only a few Lacrosse (and nothing else from the Group).

There are plenty of Jeep models - Compass, Patriot, Liberty and Grand Cherokee just like there were at LAX.

I've also seen quite a few 4Runners (Group L), which LAX does not have.

Other than that, nothing sticks out. They've had plenty of cars every day this week (even the low points, Tues and Weds evening), and I have seen a few oddities, including a Nissan Cube (on FL plates), a 2014 Hybrid Sonata (on UT plates). a 2013 Honda Fit (on CA plates) and an Accord (also CA plates, I think also a 2013). PHX has far more in the way of out of State cars than anywhere in CA, so you do often get more variety. It's also not as easy to tell the age just from the plate, but I would say that there have prob ably been a greater percentage of the cars in PHX that are 2015 morels are least almost new than there were at LAX.

Oh, and no sign of a Penske Mustang. The rep I spoke to said he thought they are all gone.

I had a 2014 Ford Expedition Limited on Friday that I got at LGA. It had... (wait for it)... a trailer hitch! It even had controls inside to release a trailer and adjust the weight settings. First time I have ever seen this in a rental car.

I was at Burbank airport to pick up a G reservation.
Almost all of cars the cars on the lot were less than 4 months old.
And the distribution was 30% new chrysler 200, 30% buick lacrosse, and 30% chevy impala, along with a few brand new camry SE and rav4.
Gold choice had 5 nissan frontier pickup trucks and a 2014 corolla base model(I didn't know they still make corollas without power locks)
I was assigned an impala LS so I walked up to the gold counter and see if they could give me a LTZ.
The counter agent offered a 2013 GLK350 as free upgrade or lacrosse for $15 extra per day. Asked her about the RAV4s and she said "I don't want to downgrade you" so I just asked her to switch me into an impala LTZ and drove off.

LAX has the new 2015 Mustang Convertibles now. Picked one up on Friday 4/3 and the lady at the counter told me they just came in that day. Mine had 6 miles on it.
