Correct security fee charge?
I'm flying (2 people) LAX-HNL-LIH with a 2 hour stopover in HNL. Hawaiian charged my c.c. the $5.60 security fee FOUR times. Shouldn't it only be two times as it is a one way flight with a relatively short time in HNL?

Edit: I saw this on another airline (Allegiant)'s website, so I wonder if something similar is at play: "A domestic segment beginning or ending in Alaska or Hawaii is subject to U.S. Transportation Tax of $10.60 per person per flight segment. " |

This is unusual; I was under the impression it wasn't double charged in this scenario - it's a TSA fee and you do not need to re-do security anyway. If you contact them, let us know the response. I wonder how many people are being double charged - if that is the case.
They booked my flight as 2 separate segments. LAX-HNL and HNL-LIH hence the "double' charge. So they just need to credit me for those 2 mistake charges right? Nope. They are telling me that they have to cancel my reservation (booked on miles) and then rebook after the miles show up in 10-14 businees days. By then who know what the miles requirement will be. The more I deal with Hawaiian, the less I want anything to do with them. I'm going to see if my credit card company will do a charge back for those mistaken fees. |

Can you elaborate on the 'two segments' remark. Are they the same ticket? It's possible on award tickets that HA always books things on a per-segment basis?
THEY booked it as 2 segments. If you go to the Hawaiian WEB site it is just a flight from LAX to LIH with a stopover in HNL for 26,000. Apparently when the agent booked it for me, for some reason, they manually booked it as two segments. |

Is it possible there were no LAX-LIH award flights available unless they were booked as 2 separate legs? How many miles did they charge you?
