Hi,
I wanted to save a few hundred dollars so I shall be flying into DUS from ORD (I am Canadian). The direct flights from toronto were about 400+ dollars canadian more then this specific flight. Anywho, this flight arrives at 0730 am . I have a train trip to zurich that departs Dusseldorf Hbf at 9:23 (i figure that ill need to catch S-bahn or RE train from the airport around 840-900). I have heard that alot of flights get delayed out of ORD. What do you think of this short connecting time? I have gotten used to flying on time 100% everytime I fly out of YYZ on LH, and after reading about ORD I was assuming that this flight might be delayed up to 30min-60min at the latest when I booked the train tickets. Taking this into consideration, would I have enough time to clear customs, hop on RE or S bahn to Dusseldorf hbf for my train? My tickets are train specific so if i miss it I will basically have to buy a new ticket.
Would greatly appreciate any advice/people's experiences in this type of situation
Thank you,
Jan

Well, the 903 S-Bahn S7 from the Terminal Station (not the Mainline station) is the one you need to catch. If everything works fine and you are not too much in the back of the bus, you need 20 minutes (without luggage) from the gate to this station.
Normally the flights into DUS are very much in time (today ORD arrived at 707), so I would not worry too much.

The connection time you have mentioned in your post is as Flying Lawyer posted doable.
And from my experience the flights from the US are pretty much in time (+/- 15 minutes)
