The closest would be Rostock-Laage, but they only have two daily flights to MUC, not FRA (with OLT, Ostfriesische Lufttransport).

If you drive, TXL and HAM are more or less the same distance (a bit more than 2h), so I would go by schedule/price.

Distance is quite the same, but I would prefer TXL. The A19 is a wonderful motorway - normally empty The A1 from Hamburg to Lbeck could be hit or a miss due to road works.

As this question is not really LH or M&M related I'll move it to the Germany forum.

Take care!

I agree. There is a good chance that you get stuck in traffic on A111 though but once you are on the A10 and on to A24 you should be fine. If you are traveling in a group (or if you can afford it anyway) you may also consider taking the Private Jet to Rostock.

Well, you could always try Ryanair's new so-called Hamburg to Frankfurt service (due to start next week)... Ryanair's "Hamburg" is Lbeck which is actually quite convenient for Warnemnde... but their "Frankfurt" is Hahn which is in the middle of nowhere, about two hours from Frankfurt. I suspect you'd probably have most of the aircraft to yourself because I can't see many people flying between LBC and the middle of nowhere.

If I were you I would seriously look into taking the train to FRA... I doubt you'd be saving a lot of time flying from Hamburg or Berlin, by the time you've travelled there and gone through all the usual airport hassle. Journey time from Rostock to FRA (i.e., direct to the airport) is six hours, with another 20 minutes or so to get into Rostock from Warnemnde.
