FRA connection and terminal change

I couldn’t find the FRA connection thread unless it’s in the LH forum, though LH isn’t part of this scenario but feel free to move it if necessary.

Around late December we might be flying DEN-FRA-BAH, with DEN-FRA on UA and FRA-BAH on GF. All on a single reservation.

My understanding is the first flight arrives into FRA at terminal 1 and the second departs from terminal 2. The scheduled connection time is 85 minutes, too.

I’m posting to ask about the process of changing terminals, which I’ve never done there, but it seems like it would be using the SkyLine. Is that going to be airside? And I’m also wondering about security and the fast lanes. If someone is connecting in the way I described, where would the security part be?

Yes, you must switch terminals. Take the skyline train. The skyline has an airside part for transfer passengers where you do not need to leave the secure area. See https://www.frankfurt-airport.com/en...ng-at-fra.html . Just follow the signs to Terminal 2 D/E and skyline.

No, the train is not secure. It only has two sections, one landside/Schengen zone and one non-Schengen transit zone.

You will have to go through security at your gate in T2.

So is the train available airside or not? I'm confused by the two conflicting responses above.

It's "airside" in the sense that it is outside immigration, but it's unclean für security purposes, so you have to go through security control again. But that's the case at T2 anyway because security is at the gate.

I was wondering about the immigration aspect and I should've clarified. I know there's no "clear" area airside.

Thank you all.

Okay, so you will actually stay in the transit area (not leaving transit area) but need to go through security again. So at least no passport control.

Skyline seems to be a hit and miss these days. It's currently out of service and has been multiple times in the past couple of months. BUS is still reliable.

Terminal change via SkyLine

Please note that the public SkyLine platform will be closed between 02.05. until probably 29.06.23 due to construction work. During this period, the existing bus shuttle will be available. The SkyLine service for transfer passengers is not affected and can be used regularly.

If you take the bus you must leave the transit and secure area
