So I had some plans cancel and I think I am going to Berlin from a Wednesday to a Sunday in June.
1. Is there enough to do for that long of a time? Interests including art, outdoors, museums, history, local culture.
2. Should I plan a day trip to somewhere else?
3. Should I split the time between Berlin and another city?
4. Can I stay somewhere for £50 or under a night? Where is recommended? I can do a hostel.

2. Potsdam is a must, though it's more like a half-day trip. Dresden is an option for a full-day trip (not a must, but certainly worth visiting).
3. Possibly, depends on your travel preferences. If you're a slow walking, museum-visiting type of traveller then you'll have enough to do in Berlin alone.
4. Hotels are cheap - £50 gets you at least a 3* in a reasonable location and I've stayed in a 4* hotel close to the center for about the same price (though in late November).

Alternative to find a place to stay would be AirBnB. There are a lot of rooms and apartments available on AirBnB in Berlin. A hostel is always a good choice if you want to meet people.

KellyeK given your range of interests you would have no difficulty in filling a five-day stay within Berlin. The city is vibrant, historically relevant and is home to a superb range of museums, galleries and community activities. You will also have good weather in June and should be able to enjoy the many gardens located within the city.

If you need a break from Berlin then I would recommend Dresden which is accessible by train ~ 2 hours each way.

Berlin is surprisingly affordable and you should have no trouble finding accommodation to suit your price range.

3. For just a few days, I wouldn't split the trip. Stay in Berlin and make a day trip or 2.

4. Berlin is pretty cheap, but I don`t know any accomodations from own experience which fit your Budget. I even saw some 4 star Hotels in the range, so no worry

Enough to do for "that long of a Time"? You could spend months in Berlin without getting bored....

I'll be arriving in Berlin on a Sunday afternoon next month and departing on a Friday morning. I'm bummed that my schedule didn't work out to allow me more time in Berlin. (Granted Monday through Wednesday will be working days, but ...) I don't think being bored will be a problem ... winnowing your choices down to a few options during your brief stay will likely be much more of an issue (and a happy one, IMO).

you should easily spend this time in Berlin and Potsdam. While a day trip to Dresden is possible, you should only do it, if you are interested in an particular piece of art only displayed there.

With the exception of London, there's more to see in Berlin than any UK city, so you can be as busy as you want to be. I suggest an expedition to the castles in Potsdam might be quite rewarding.

Museum Island alone could keep someone busy for 2-3 days.

airbnb: which neighbourhood
 

I am looking at staying at an airbnb. I thought it might be an exciting adventure to meet some locals for advice. I am overwhelmed by the ads and do not know anything about Berlin neighbourhoods.

1. Any berlin neighbourhoods should I stay away from?
2. Which ones are the best for public transportation?
3. I am hoping for nice weather to rent a bike. Is it pretty easy to rent a bike everywhere or are there certain neighbourhoods where it is easier?

From a security point, no. You are probably everywhere safe in Berlin. However since you want to see as much as possible and do not spend to much time in trains, I would recommend to stay in the center.

It's not as much a matter of neighbourhoods, more of the exact position. You should check, that you can easily reach a "U-Bahn" or "S-Bahn" station. If you walk more than 10 minutes to one of these stations choose another location. Whether one neighbourhood is more suited to your interests, depends much on your interests. However the public transport system in Berlin is quite good, and you should reach the whole center within 20-45 minutes.
Never rented a bike in Berlin, but from my perception there are everywhere tourists with bikes.

I personally would say that Prenzlauer Berg near a U2 stop is close to ideal for a tourist. The U2 itself runs very frequently and even in the middle of the night. It takes you to Alexanderplatz, Potsdamer Platz and Zoo.

If you want to go anywhere else in Berlin S+U Schoenhauser Allee connects the U2 to the Ringbahn, at Potsdamer Platz you can get the S1 and S2, Alexanderplatz offers connection to the Stadtbahn and it is also a hub now for the vast tram network in the East of the city.

In general, I would recommend planning your trips in advance if you have a specific destination in mind. Berlin's public transport network has various branches with the S-Bahn, the U-Bahn, trams and buses. All of those tend to be reasonably reliable (crossing fingers with the S-Bahn) and they are generally well-integrated. There is a lot of places to see : the door of Brandenburg, the Fernsehturm, the Museuminsel (an island with 5 museums), the zoo (you need the day to visit if you want take your time, it's really great), the castle of Charlottenburg...

A hostel is the best possibility. It's not too expensive and you can meet people.
