Well, you technically cannot deduct your tips from your gambling winnings, so in that sense if the casino report were accurate it would not help you. But they aren't accurate, even excluding the tip issue, so if I could wave a magic wand and have you stop being irked, I would. :)

Matchplay/Slot Dollars Earnings?
I am a bit confused with how the earning system works at The Borgata. My boyfriend and I go there at least once a week and play blackjack, roulette and sometimes slots. We have not received any matchplay in about 6 months, but receive slot dollars weekly. We were told by the hotel that this is because we play more slots than table games. This makes no sense because we very rarely play slots, but we do spend most of our time on roulette and blackjack. Can someone explain the way earnings and comps are calculated?

I receive about $400 match plays per weekend trip, $50 in bonus comp dollars and get random 1 day slot dollar bonus of $120. 7 day availability in waterclub or Fiore suites at borgata. I have recently only played slots but still get the match plays. For perspective I typically earn about $100 comp dollars and $50 slot dollars per visit, I just came back tonight from a weekend and haven't got the report back yet, probably earned a bit more than that this weekend. Play was penny slots max bet 2-3hrs total over the weekend. |
I went to borgota for the first time about 3 weeks ago. I lost $900 playing blackjack. I just called up the number to check how many comp points I had and I only have 28. Is that normal? Also, will I be eligible for a free room? Any help is appreciated.

You're not giving the information necessary to answer that question. Comp points and room offers are based on time played and average bet not on losses.
|
Just login to the borgata website to check - $28 is probably right.
You enter your red card number and create a login- will show you all offers, such as rooms, match plays etc. you'll probably get a borg room offer for 2 nights sun-thurs- that's the start, if your play is higher they open up waterclub then suites and 7 day availability. |

The link to the website is here: http://www.theborgata.com/assets/web...ons/index.html Other methods are to contact your host at the Borgata (if you have one) and ask them if they can introduce you to a host they know in LV. If not, you can possibly contact the hotels directly and ask to speak to a host. |

The only connection is through My Borgata's Vacations, where you can redeem your comp dollars for gift certificates at Boyd Gaming properties in LV.

In Vegas we stay at Encore, we didn't get a host to introduce us, but I had played there in the past to show them what my play was like, and they were OK with making a comp 2 night Casino rate (based on play to become comp) 2 more nights. I reached out to them directly and set up a Line Of Credit too - just 10K and frankly it didn't make much difference there, would have at other properties. Wynn/Encore are very nice properties, but again are some of the worst you could pick to get comps at, very similar to how Borgata/Waterclub are in AC. |
Hello everyone, I'm new here, I wanted to ask a few questions about the borgata and was hoping someone here could help me.
I've been playing every Friday at the borgata, 1/2 no limit holdem for 7 hours each visit. I only go on weekends, and don't want to drive back and forth on the same weekend, so I really want a Friday night room comp so I can spend 2 days down there. does anyone have an idea of how many hours I would have to log playing 1/2 nlhe like this? it seems 7 hrs is my max for a continuous session, my lower back starts killing me after that. I'm pretty new to AC, I only have ~$40 comp dollars from the past month. Thanks! |

However, even playing the amount you do, you should have a discounted room rate showing up in your account, so it may be worth just paying for the room if it's worth it to you; if you book in advance and avoid holiday weekends the discounted rates can be quite reasonable. Of course, the other way to get a comped room is to earn more comp dollars per trip, which probably means playing table games -- but of course there is an expected loss to the house for every dollar gambled there, and the house aims to give you back less in comps than you are expected over time to lose at the tables. |
Quick Borgata black card question. I'm diamond at CET and upgraded to Borgata black in July. As I'm diamond at CET through March 2015, will Borgata renew my black card upgrade when it expires in July?

Hey folks,
I was wondering - is there some sort of formula, cashback rate % or even rule of thumb to estimate how much it takes to earn $1 in comp dollars at Borgata? My wife and I were thinking about making a go at earning Black Card status by focusing play on one card: She plays the slots (usually $.01 to $.25) while I play video poker (usually $.25). I realize video poker earns less comps than slots, but was wondering if there is some sort of avg total bet/per hour or the like that one could use to estimate comps earned. We are local, so making enough trips wouldn't be the problem, but just wanted to be able to better gauge more accurately the volume of play it would take. Thanks in advance |

I believe this is all on the up-and-up with Borgata as well; I have definitely seen married couples put both players on one card at table games, for example. |

Slot comps are typically earned on a fixed % of dollars bet (so if you make 10 $2 bets, you have bet $20, regardless of how fast you do it). Some casinos are quite forthcoming about their % return on slot bets, though Borgata isn't one of them -- I would guess about 1%, but you could also just do a controlled test one day and see what happens. (Note that if you start at $0 comp dollar balance, nothing will show up in your account until you earn at least $5, so factor that into your test.) The 1% may also be "shared" between comp dollars and slot dollars which could mean comp dollars on their own are less than 1%. Video poker will earn at a slower rate than slots, often about 1/3 or 1/4 the rate.

We will be combining play onto just her card (she was further along to black status) I have seen a few mentions of people being granted Black Card status even though they hadn't met the $1000 threshold, but instead based on larger play on a given trip. Would anyone that has had this happen be willing to share what kind of play it took for them, specifically slot players? TIA |

Thank you for the tip on the $5 minimum balance. I tried testing once before, but I think not accounting for that threw me off....I will have to try again next visit.

Hi all, just went last weekend. Played on the $5 table and ended up losing $100 before walking away. I played for about 2 hours and bet various amounts ($5 - 50% of the time, $10 - 30% of the time, $15 - 15 % of the time, and threw in an occasional $20 bet)
Logged in to my account to see no comp dollar balance but I am now $1/$1000 towards black label. Does that sound right? Stingy if so. |

If you know how to play and are not playing a 6:5 game, the casino will be lucky to break even after paying for their expenses. There is no profit left to comp you with. |

That amount of action should be worth about $3 in total comps. However, all your comps don't necessarily go to your balance of comp dollars (I don't know specifically how Borgata does it, but if I put in that amount of play at any other casino I would expect to generate $10 of theo, and be comped at 30% of my theo, for $3 total comps. But that does not mean I'd expect to see $3 added to my comp dollar balance).

+1 - I did not calculate out your theoretical loss and assume VegasGambler is right, but at some casinos they don't even rate play under $25 per decision so 0 for that play would not surprise me.
But realistically they might just have him down for a $5 average bet. |
At a "locals" casino in Vegas, the pit boss might bother to rate your play if sitting at a $5 table. At Borgata, probably not, even if in AC. If the pit boss troubled himself to take your players card, he may have noted your bet on the first few hands($5?) and then walked away. Your bet was entered, if at all, as $5, as far as he was concerned.

This is not stingy; it's standard. |
