Frontier irregular ops vouchers are a bit of a scam
In September I had a bad Frontier flying experience. About 25 minutes after take off, the pilot announced that "back up" systems had failed and we were returning. It turned out to be a fairly serious hydraulic failure and, after safely returning, they had to get a tug to tow us off the runway and back to the terminal. Amazingly, Frontier found another aircraft for us and the net result was a 4 hour delay. Soon thereafter, I received a $75 email voucher each for myself and my travelling companion.
The voucher SEEMED like a nice gesture, but the reality is more show than substance. We have 3 months to use it. It's not transferrable to other passengers. It only comes off the base fare -- which all Frontier flyers know is usually very low. The only good news is it's multi-use. For example, I just bought a $97 int'l ticket -- my highest priced Frontier ticket ever (largely because of the int'l taxes) -- and the voucher was still worth less than a dollar. I've also applied the voucher to their famous $19 fares, and saved 7 cents.
Bottom line, if you get "compensated" for irregular ops on a Frontier flight, don't expect "real" compensation.

Voucher
I received a 100 voucher in July, and booked a 195 dollar itinerary for my wife and I. The 100 came right off the top
I wasn't expecting that.
Then Frontier removed the route times from their schedule and set us up for five hours in Vegas instead of a day and a half, so I had to cancel and now have that voucher back.

IME, sometimes the vouchers work for any charges sometimes they only work for the fare. Guess it depends on how they set it up. Most of the time it only works for the fare.
one year I had over 50 of these $50 vouchers. Only a few worked on any charges. Most of these were useless.

I have a $100 voucher from a cancelation I've booked about 20 tickets off of and still have $65 left. (Which that cancelation was happy luck - I wasn't going to take the trip, so I checked in and picked a Stretch seat then no-showed without even getting out of bed because, well, Frontier deserves that sometimes... my luck I woke up to find the flight canceled and a voucher)
I got a $50 voucher for sending them photos of a vendor supervisor at CLT screaming at passengers including telling Elites (well, all two of us) we aren't entitled to any "special treatment" and could board with our zones. That one was good for the entire total. But, like another mentioned was their experience, I had the itinerary I booked with it altered so that Frontier had me flying both directions of my trip at the same time (and the text agent didn't seem to see the issue with that), so got a refund, then booked again, to have the schedule change mess up that trip, so I think I finally used it on a third trip.
