Out in the weather at Denver

So Frontier is working on setting up 14 gates at Denver where you get to walk outside in the winter and climb up the stairs to the plane.

Stay classy, Frontier. Stay classy.

I boarded like this in the wind/snow at DRO last month. There was an equipment swap and the seat assignments were not right. Not fun when they keep stopping the line outside to reorganize the pax inside the aircraft.

Ouch! That’s no fun.

Some of us can remember when that was the standard way to board.

I don't like it either but having boarded many a flight in Europe this way, I do like the efficiency. Normally they board (and disembark) passengers through two doors at the same time. It's a much faster process.

This is what cheap airlines do to you. Terrible, terrible airline with poor customer service. Stay away from them.

Why don't you tell us how you really feel?
Frontier definitely has its quirks but if you go in with your eyes wide open, Frontier flights can be a tremendous value while being more humane than Spirit, Allegiant, and other ULCCs. They aren't Delta, American, or United, however.

With global warming it shouldn't be an issue in the near future.

They are absolutely terrible. Customer service is horrendous. They lie about reasons for cancellation. Then they make you jump through hoops to get the refund which is due you, I had to write to the Department of Transportation, and Better Business Bureau, to get the right focus on a cancellation refund almost every step of the way, it’s been horrendous. Stay clear of this awful airline.

Frontier moved most of their Denver flights onto the new ground stands at the far end of concourse A recently. It's a madhouse in there... not nearly enough seating, no room to navigate through the throngs of people, long lines waiting for the restroom. Plus a tiny little spot for customer service that quickly overflows out into the main hallway when there's any sort of line.

I am fine with the air stairs and ramps in theory, but we'll see how it turns out in poor weather. The ramp is covered but you still have to walk outside between the door and the ramp. Also, the cart for strollers and gate-checked bags is uncovered. Neither of my flights unloaded using the rear stairs for whatever reason. They did load from both, so that probably cut down on turnaround time a bit.

Overall, a pretty bad experience. They really oversold the 'improvements' they were going to make to these gates prior to the move. Some people are calling the gate area the "A hole." I'll propose another name, the "DEN-geon" based on it's tortuous dungeon-like feel.

I love the idea of being able to board and deplane using both front and back doors but the execution in Denver could use some work. I'm sure the Denver airport and Frontier will make some tweaks to improve the customer experience as time goes on.

Long Beach and Burbank use stairs/ramps to board planes. The difference is the weather in SCal is abit nicer than DIA.
