I don't know if this is new (did a seach, yada, yada, yada) - if this has been discussed before my apologies. I just saw it on an ad on cnn.com

No it just confirms United's status as a LCC.

I think it is more of a response to B6's program: http://www.jetblue.com/about/ourcomp...eats/index.asp

But, since no other legacy offers it (as MRTC is gone, and Coach Choice is not really a different configuration/cabin/section).
