Automatic seat changes?

Hey I hava an upcoming flight to HEL, mit orignal seats where 1A and 1C - they where changed by the system row six, with no other options left, I dbl. checked the booking a few days later and was able to change to 1A and 1F - hoping that some one will change with one of us. Today I looked into the booking again and the person on 1F was changed to 1A and the person on 1A was changed to 3A - no possibility to sit together at all (no problem with that, but I wonder why my reservations where kicked by the system twice (not to mention we are both Plats) - is this the lack of Lumo in our status?

Does anyone else saw random seat changes latley - and why they are doing this? I did a lot of flights on AY - never had this problem before.

Just talked to them, it is an aircraft change, no row one one the right side - but the seat map shows it - this IT sucks.

Someone needed row 1 for an infant perhaps?

My thoughts exactly. Row 1 / bassinet seats are always very risky to select due to this very reason.

Edit: and it is double risky on tourist routes like Bangkok and also JFK/SFO during holiday seasons...but Bangkok (not to mention the 100% holiday routes like Phuket, Krabi) etc. have lot of babies, also in J.

So this was intra-Europe (TXL-HEL?), not longhaul?

Change of aircraft doesn’t seem to explain why they changed the seats twice...

After the Eq. swap, I believe Ed was able to select seats that are non-existent, like the 1F on A320-100. Apparently MMB was never updated with the new seat map. This is why the second seat swap occured - someone in AY had to move him into an existing chair...

I think this explains it very well, it was 1 F which was changed.

I always sit in row one to BKK (if possible) never was changed because of an infant, I was asked once if I want to swap - I regret and that was it. Baby had to travel on the lap of the mother. I know that this is not cool,

Yes, not all row1 seats are bassinet seats so then they cannot force the move, only from bassinet seats.

I know, but most of the time I got the bassinet seats, since they are blocked (I guess) but as a Plat you alway can get them online (not at the phone in my experience)

Yesterday I had a regional Norra flight from HEL and when I checked in my seat was the one I prefer, 17D. While waiting the flight to board I noticed from Finnair app that my seat had changed to 10D. I went to transfer desk and forced them to change back the seat, obviously my action may have created some hazzle as almost everybody seated around these rows got new seats.

Why are they changing seats, this seem to happen very often nowadays?

OK after doing this flight I got some more information. Seat 1C is blocked for crew members on Jet Time flights. So there is only one seat in row 1 you can book - 1A, anyway row two D/F are way better then 1A - because of enormous legroom.

I have faced exactly the same things recently and only with domestic Norra flights in Finland. Luckily I have noticed these changes early enough to be able get my original seat back after modifying my check in online.

Flying ORD-HEL in a couple of days. Prebooked my solo seat 2A months ago and now seat has been changed to 7C (probably the worst seat in business class IMHO). Chat could give no reason for this and flight is full so 7C it will be. It is a paid ticket and I have Emerald status, but they still can do this. Not happy!

There is no 7B in finnair business class. Maybe 7A or 7C? Still I very much agree that those are crappiest seats in the airplane, 7A maybe worst since window is missing.

Thanks for the correction, meant 7C. Could not get the facts right in my anger mood🙂
