But 2x WAW-HEL-DEL-HEL-WAW (or PRG, BUD) are 50k with only a few extra hours invested. Going to BKK is a good option as there are 2-3 dailies, so one can spend some time in BKK if needed (order those shirts during the first trip, pick them up on the second )

Note that WAW is "Northern Europe", so it's just 1000 points.

I'm sure to find many good answers in here: On top of my planned flights and changing all award points to tier points I will still need 40-50.000 points until end April to keep Plat status.
In the near future I will benefit from the Plat status. Therefore, I’m willing to sacrifice something, but trying to be reasonable. However, as a family man I’m not able spend my next 8 weekends flying some ARN-HEL-PRG, or alike. There are 1.600 EUR business class flights over a weekend to Thailand. That would fill the gap and although my wife won’t be happy, but I could manage one trip like this. Still 1.600 EUR feels a bit expensive. Any good ideas what else I could do? Thanks

Very nice replies, thanks everyone! "Get the deal when you find it and do not wait" is the best hint: the "cheap" 1.600eur Thailand flights increased to ~2.000.
My hope is now with the Spring festival business class sales; when do you think it should start?

And those offers have 2 days left. And one nasty thing is Chinese Visa.

And yet HEL based people have the best situation of all as you can apply at embassy for reasonable fee. No mandatory "service" center that charges fantasy fee, with profits funneled into HKG company controlled by relatives of Lao Gan Bu ("Comrade")

Best thing is to use the 72/144 hour transit visa system. In short, if you transit to third country within timelimit, no paid visa is needed.
For CAN, book a second flight CAN-HKG-CAN. There are 2 daily KA flights, will get you nice time in HKG lounge.
