I can confirm I got that email. I remember it well as one more devalued in the Amex platinum card.

I never knew there were products that provided free FPC Plat status. Are there other travel benefits that are provided through such banking arrangements?

It's not free plat, it's a fast track to plat similar to the Visa card that was discontinued.

Amex was fast track. OP said it was free through his private banking, which is what caused his current predicament when the bank replaced the Amex code with their code.

That may well be the rub. If that is the case, this is an issue between OP and his private banker. Again, has nothing to do with Fairmont.

Scotia through Inspire program. Did not find much online except this (not who I deal with personally just mentions the status)

Afaik Cdn Amex Centurion cardholders also used to received comp. FPC Platinum status.

I wouldn't be surprised if a few other banks offered it to their top customers as well.

Not even sure it exists anymore, I got a mailing about it 4-5 years ago and took advantage of it. Will probably check in the future what/if they have replaced it with but this stuff changes frequently with reorgs and other things large corporations love to do!

I am in the same boat, switched my code in Jan 17 from private banking code to PLAT5, change was accepted (box was greyed out with stars) and I have the required nights.

Have been downgraded to Club (even though I have at least 10 nights in 2017 which should make me Premier), even though I could select my 2 benefits on March 1st ($100 cert still in account) and my status said Plat on March 1st 2018.

​​​​​​EDIT: Everything got sorted out by the [email protected] desk. They had issues with the PLAT5 code being registered. So they CAN fix it OP, I would chase it if I were you. I had more than the 5 required nights however and spent a fair bit of change in their bars last year may have something to do with it!
