FPC AmEx Fast Track Question

Hey FTers,

I have read conflicting reports that the 5 nights AmEx Plat fast track is only valid if booked with the Plat card. Is this true? I've read conflicting reports.

I also have the gold card which would translate to more points if I booked my hotels with it. I was planning to book 5 Fairmont nights with the gold.

Does this qualify for fast track? Thanks.

It is supposed to be paid with you plat, so I wouldn't chance it for a few extra points. You will get 1000 extra points per night anyway for aeroplan or whatever airline you choose using platinum.

According to the T+C's, you must use your PLAT card. YMMV

I've never used my Amex Plat for this. Always my Amex corp card, never an issue.

FPC AmEx Fast Track Question

Do you also have to book directly at Fairmont.com or third-party booking is fine?

The terms of the PLAT5 offer don't go into a lot of detail on that. I would think that the definition of a qualifying stay for this offer would be the same as whatever counts as a qualifying stay in your profile for earning status the regular way.

Those terms say...
To receive a stay credit or room night credit, reservation must be booked on qualifying rates. Qualifying rates are determined by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, and can be deemed non-qualifying at any given time, without prior notice. Travel industry rates (including, but not limited to airline crew rates, travel agent rates and tour group escort rates) will not be considered qualifying rates toward member status. Certificates are not eligible for redemption on travel-industry rates, airline crew rates, travel agent rates, tour group escort stays, packages and promotions. Complimentary or barter room stays or any stays booked through online channels where the brand is unknown at the time of purchase (including but not limited to Priceline.com, Hotwire.com) are considered as not qualifying and will not be eligible for credit.
Based on that, I would say that you don't have to book it at fairmont.com, but also that not all third party bookings will necessarily qualify.

FPC AmEx Fast Track Question

Thanks for the info. I usually book through AmEx travel and looks like they will qualify in this instance.

Booking SPG through AmEx travel is a non-qualifying stay for points accumulation, for example. Learned this the hard way. But I still get the platinum benefits.
