They didn't even make the final 4 in any category.
Then again, this made me gag when I saw it just now: http://content.screencast.com/users/...04-30_1458.png :td::td::td: As i recall, AA won the FT Awards, too. :td: |
I just can't get excited about "awards programs" - be it the Oscars, Freddies, Nobel Prizes, Best Pizza in Akron, etc. They certainly never factor into my decision making and seem in most cases to be a self-licking ice cream cone.
Besides, picking the "best" airline program is about like selecting the "best" way to be executed.;) |
Freddie Awards April 2016

I'm still waiting for an actual point/mile bribe for a FlyerTalk Awards/Freddie Awards vote. I'm patient!
No-one takes these awards seriously. The results/winners prove that! |

I was told recently by a major UK travel company that they only reason they still advertise in a major UK travel magazine (the only bit of print advertising they still do) is because it is the only way to be shortlisted for their high-profile travel awards ....

Perhaps more accurate to say that few here at FT take these awards seriously. They're the travel equivalent of some other consumer rankings--which insiders know can be "influenced" while the general public, not so knowing, may be swayed by advertisements promoting the "win."

I wonder how much of the general public really makes, or changes, their airline decisions based on seeing which FFP won some award.

The yearly freddie song and dance has started again... the VFTW article about it was, lets say, 'interesting'. The FT awards went silent, even though the FTUs are back in action.

There seem to be quite the few "award" programs out there trying to crown travel loyalty program winners.
Some award results came out from somewhere and I noted that it had Radisson Rewards win the hotel program award. I am still trying to get my head around that one. |
