How many times can blogs post the same thing?
A while ago some of those blogs were posting useful info, sometimes.
But recently all of them are like infomercials - credit cards, credit cards!!! 60000 points, yes, how many ways you can spend it, how many ways can you say "60000", with a British accent or not, blah, blah. So amazingly embarrassing IMO. Just post a link on your blog, nothing else and say, people please click it, I have nothing to say, but I'm a nice guy and want to fly 1st class for free... And then I will review it and will complain how not perfect it was (because I deserve the best as I fly 1st class!)... |

They all sounded just like this guy today: http://cdn.gunaxin.com/wp-content/up.../billymays.jpg |
...And then there were some that just compiled the links from other bloggers to make a post and advertise again....
I went directly to chase.com to apply for this one. |
good news for all :)
the links have been extended for two more days:p
you lucky link lovers |

you lucky link lovers 2 more days of ACT NOW! OPERATORS ARE STANDING BY! |
The original post is so hilarious!^
I need to track down another pic to identify the "feelings" about the 2 day extension:D |
The best is that some bloggers are past trying to hide the fact that they just push links and actually go out of their way to almost rub it in our faces.
But then again... http://smackdown.neoseeker.com/w/i/s...eGodfather.jpg |

So all those dire warnings that the end was nigh were for naught.
2 more days of ACT NOW! OPERATORS ARE STANDING BY! Post 1 - "I hear something is coming next week!" Post 2 - "It's here! Use my link!" Post 3 - "Here are ten ways to use the points" Post 4 - "Ten more ways!" Post 5 - "The end is coming this weekend!" Post 6 - "The end is almost here - get in fast - BoardingArea will be in maintenance mode but my links will still work" Post 7 - "NOW! Extended!" And we await more posts. |
By my count, at least 80 written by 40 different bloggers. And I was mostly judging by post title so if they were more subtle than not I probably missed them. On a posts per day the deal was live basis this was much calmer than the frenzy 6 weeks ago over the 75k AmEx MR card, but much bigger overall given the extended duration of the promo. Also, I know I've missed a few, mostly from more recently today, but that's the way my reader parses things.
Here's the full list I have, sorted by frequency of the author then author then date.
|
Impressive list.
Chase is probably oh so happy. |
You know I am linking to this thread in my next blog post, you better beliebe it!:D

Funny, especially as you led with it in three of your posts. I mostly ignore the "summary of everything else" posts in my count so you're not there. But your posts definitely were.

Latest headline from good ol' censor-king Delta Points...
"PROCRASTINATORS: Only hours remaining INK 60,000 bonus" ..."If you have been waiting until now, you truly are a procrastinator’s procrastinator!" Desperate attempt by the "little people" blogger? LoL |
Delta Points is one of the most useless blogs. Even after the offer expires he will still come up with filler posts about how it's too late for 60k but you should still get in on 50k before it drops down to 40k.
|
How many times can you say NO to free money?
I'm amazed too, even as Canadian (not applicable for Chase cards), I know so much about this 60K signup because of BoardingArea is full of it Certainly drives me AGAINST using any of their links even if I qualify |

You must have put at least 80 hours of research into that! :D:D:D If I didn't already have 3 Chase cards I'd throw a referral your way! |
Ideally, issuers should have higher bonus for anyone applying directly without any midlleman as in any other business -or atleast invest in better targeting potential applicants.
Chase atleast had the option to apply directly for the 60K Inks (which is what I did) - last month Amex didnt have this option and I had to choose one from the pack for the 75k offer. |

I only ask because I feel the same way, but am having trouble explaining to myself why. With my last credit card sign up I offered to split the affiliate fee with anyone who had a link. No takers as apparently they can't share the spiff with their readers or else their affiliates drop them. But I wonder if they can, I dunno, throw some points or other sign of appreciation for a sign up... BTW, a good blog post/comments on this very issue: http://first2board.com/foodwineandmi...chase-ink-60k/ |
I've given several bloggers, BA ones and others, credit card referrals. I pick and choose which ones. The most recent went to someone that I think does a great job and doesn't just post trip reports about their 1st class travel to Bali or whatever. When these bloggers respond to emails/tweets, why wouldn't I?
|
My favorite this weekend was the blogger who (kinda) admitted that alas, a 10,000 bonus is great, but might not be enough to entice someone to apply.
BUT!!!!! BUT!!! BUT WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE BONUS WILL BE AFTER THE LIMITED TIME OFFER!! IT MAY NOT RETURN TO 50K! IT MAY GO LOWER!!!!! |
I'm curious: why not throw some affiliate revenue to a blogger. It costs you nothing. |
Chase Ink and Ink Bold are business credit cards. I have a hard time believing a large percentage of readers own their own business. Is Chase cracking down at all on bloggers who push the whole "sole proprietorship" and just using your own ss# for your business?

Certainly they know. The amount of business bloggers generate for them, and considering they hold "marketing sessions" with select bloggers annually, certainly someone must be visiting the bloggers websites here and there. Perhaps Chase is content with the merchant fees they generate , as well as interest on the Plus card (yes, not all pay their bill in full) ... plus counting on the residual annual fee income. |
|
A bit surprised no one has mentioned (that I can see), the daily posting on FTG recapping the 30 best credit cards. 1 card a day for 30 days...
|
I think all of us who still bother to read the usual blogs are currently using all our fingers to count the umpteen mentions of the SPG Amex ;)

Has it recently gone up to 30,000 SPG points? Gosh, I haven't heard anything about that. Should really go read some more. |
But you would be surprised

I have been loving the one-upsmanship over the AA/UA DOJ lawsuit.
It seems to be a race to see who was the LEAST surprised by it. Because, you know, they saw it coming the mostest. :D |

And I haven't seen lots of bloggers writing that they saw it coming? Take, for instance, VFTW: Why I Didn’t Expect the Government to File Suit to Stop the Merger |
I had this to say because I always have something to say:D
It is amazing to me seeing how many “aviation” expert bloggers are out there telling us what they thought of the DOJ lawsuit to block the AA-US merger and yet, I do not remember a single one predicting such a move! |

And by interesting, I mean it suddenly looks like OMNI/PR. ;) :D |
Seems like several bloggers are trying to promote the SPG card by posting the same thing. MMS has a 5 parter, while Milevalue using a misleading title with "free" travel while forgetting about taxes and resort fees.

This is post #2 of a series regarding the Starwood Preferred Guest hotel program. Some of these posts were written last year, but there have been some changes to the program and I’ll be adding more posts! |
The "change" to the program is more than likely just the new affiliate link.

A recent 2+ week trip with limited internet access gave me a great chance to see the bloggers in a new light. Rather than daily (or thrice-daily) checks of my RSS, I basically had to comb through 200-250 new posts at the end of the trip.
It was eye-opening how little content there was. I think I read less than 10 posts out of all the new ones in the backlog. A ton of junk on SPG credit card offer, MMS and TPG basically turning into giveaway blogs, and some political stuff rom VFTW. Made me wonder why the heck I'm reading these things. |
