There is also the part where the benefits of the aggregation differ for the host and the participants.

What do you think the real costs are to host a blog which doesn't see any traffic? Even a blog which sees a lot of traffic doesn't cost all that much to host. The "investment" is so small that it isn't all that big a deal vis a vis the potential profits.

Plus, just because you don't like one of the blogs doesn't mean that someone else feels the same way. I'm quite certain that the regular readers of my blog are different from the regular readers of the others on Boarding Area. I'm just fine with that.

Your perspective is a bit...errr...misguided. Let me explain a bit: Your blog is quality. You offer genuine insight and at least offer the appearance that you care about your readership (which I like to believe is true). Your blog is also unique. And that's the key component. Your readers are the ones that have at least half a brain too :D

Keep up the good work!

And, it works. I found your blog and other BA blogs through Flying with Fish--a blog I still enjoy (even if I don't always agree with his point of view). Flying with Fish is sort of a throwback: not updated daily, hardly ever about points and miles. I'm sure the blog probably hasn't had explosive growth numbers over the last several years and maybe if it were being pitched today, it wouldn't even get entry to BA, but I'm sure it remains a very small portal for the remainder of the BA blogs.

Has anyone heard anything about a change to the minimum spend on the Barclays Arrival card?

Lol. Its funny how this information is leaked to select bloggers and everyone else jumps on it. I am surprised how most blogs are all over this as if its the next best offer after Ink Bold 60k! Personally, I think Citi Thank You Premier(for those who have it for a while) may be a better currency specially since they are more generous with annual fee waivers. Also no one mentions about how barclays tends to pull all 3 credit reports...

Capital One is notorious for usually pulling all 3 bureaus, but I haven't noticed Barclay's doing the same thing yet. Though you're right that some bloggers aren't as good as others at pointing out little tidbits like that, whatever they may be.

Minimum Spend on Barclaycard Arrival Did Go Up Today

The rumors circulating earlier this week were validated today. Barclays increased the minimum spend requirement on the Arrival card from $1000 to $3000 within the first 3 months in order to get the 40,000 bonus points.

This will make the bonus less accessible for many people.

Thanks - I was being sarcastic there. You couldn't even glance at a travel blog without seeing that this week. Lots of good referral income to be had, I'm sure.

I doubt it really shifts the goal posts all that much in this community.

I think that was tongue-in-cheek.

I would have thought so, too, except that not too many actually wrote about it. MMS finally did this morning but coverage has been sparse.
