I tried MP for a while, it's a ghost town. Oliver2002's data overviews seem to present a situation where MP is just "there" with little momentum.

Agree. The AC forum barely has s small handful of posts per week so very quiet.

Maybe they just aren't big fans if counting backwards, posting random numbers, or writing three word stories... It's seems that's pretty much all milepoint is about these days. Well that and posting about how friendly they all are

Seriously though, I am too surprised by how little involvement the founders had. Kind of disappointing really

VFTW used to post links to MP threads (that were essentially copycat threads from FT). He doesn't even bother with that anymore, and regularly just HT's FT now (again).

The key, I think, is that MP is the common 'base' for the other ventures like blogs, FTUs, MegaDos, etc. So no matter how moribund it becomes it serves a role of tying their businesses together.

of course per month and per day are only calculated average
all the posts may have been in a handful of huge increments
individual threads could be looked at to see about this
and there is also the possibility of threads moved into forum

Can someone explain the purpose of all the Milepoint "Countdown", or "Random Number" threads?

I understand the site benefits as the pageviews/posts get counted. But why do the members waste their own valuable time with this?
