Before anyone else comes out and says it, this is wrong, and I screwed it up. The price will be $595 per bag, which is identical to the MSRP. Apparently I missed the *95* part of the price during that phone call and was just informed of my mistake.
$200 of the price will go to charity and you will receive a donation receipt for it. This was completely my error. Sorry. As a Canadian, I can't use the donation receipt. |

And it goes the other way around too ;) On SMD2 there was an auction to visit LH's pilot training center in Phoenix, with proceeds to LH's charity. Since LH is German-based, I as a US citizen couldn't get the charitable deduction.
Cheers. |
Looks like a total of zero seats sold in the past week. 22 left in E- and 3 left in Tommy/E+. :(
Maybe the FTEF could offer free E- seats to those 'contributors' who bought Diamond level memberships in FTEF! They did pony up a $2,000 annual fee, after all! @:-) ^ |
Hotel details announced for the SMD5

Given the busing nightmare of SMD4, we think this was the right call and that everyone will have a better experience for it. As noted by Pat, individuals sharing rooms will both be eligible for the Platinum status, so you can reduce the cost through sharing.
The hotel hotel in San Francisco is the Airport Marriott Waterfront ($139 / night). You don't need to stay here to earn the status, but it'll be where all the after-parties are, so it's probably a good idea. I can tell you I'll be there. Marriott Promo isn't starting July 20. To start, no, I'm not happy with that either, but it is what it is. The promo is still the best MegaDo promo ever (it hasn't changed), but we just couldn't get all the paperwork done in time to get it rolling by the 20th. We will announce a new start date in the near future.Sorry about that. 2 nights in Toronto, on the group rate, are required to get the Platinum status. |

Looks like no additional seats sold, but a few e- seats 'blocked.' Presumably for press and other comped participants?

Maybe the next Mega Do will be a Kilo Do, with travel on an E175. That will preserve the exclusivity of these events as their appeal becomes more selective.
Seriously, it's odd that the Mega Do is having trouble drawing attendees when FT University and similar events are overflowing. It's almost as if the community of interest is changing from road warriors to credit card churners. ;) |
thanks. |

I think I have seen two mileage earning numbers posted, but as an altitude 100K, will i get 2500 or 5000 status AQM for the trip, plus my tier bonus?
thanks. |

'Value' and 'road warriors' just don't ring the register. In any case, the Megado-market does seem to be self-saturated. Down-sizing seems like a good way to deal with that. It seems to me that they have no problem selling FC; it's the e- seats that aren't moving. Maybe they'd have better luck chartering a premium transcon config aircraft? Or maybe the shark has simply been jumped. If that's the case, I would put the shark moment at Rimowa. |

Not really sure why. As for this one in particular? A lot of cash for a North American-only trip and the destinations aren't all that exciting to me anyway. Luggage factory? Meh. Personally, I can tour AMARC anytime I wanted to arrange it...even if I couldn't, I certainly wouldn't sign up for the MD just for that. |

I thought there were no cancellations or refunds allowed?
Seatmap shows more seats available than before: http://content.screencast.com/users/...%2009%2013.png |
Aaaand now they are giving away seats in exchange for posts:
SMD5 Contest - Win or Spin What happens when you combine free stuff and a good ol’ postapalooza? Some very happy Milepoint members! Win thread: Win a seat on the Star MegaDO 5! Post anything as often as you'd like for a chance to win! |
I would love to go to this if I was based in Toronto (live in Vancouver Island).

Very little movement in the last couple weeks:
http://i745.photobucket.com/albums/x...psff37b8ae.png 1 sold in Tommy and 2 in E-. But should even that slow pace keep up, it should be sold out by mid-October. |
If you've ever been on a Star MegaDO, wanted to go on one or maybe just be in the market for a new piece of luggage—this message is for you. Rimowa (one of the leading luggage brands in the world) and the MegaDO have partnered up to bring you an exclusive piece of luggage. This custom Rimowa Salsa Deluxe Cabin bag features a matte black finish and a MegaDO logo, both exclusive to the MegaDO and not available anywhere else. AND even better for doing good—$200 of the purchase price is donated by Rimowa back to Milepoint Cares to help others. Milepoint Cares is the leading effort by road warriors/frequent flyers in charity support. AND you can't buy it cheaper at eBags, Zappo's or Bloomingdale's. This Rimowa Salsa Deluxe 21″ Cabin Multiwheel (spinner) is of particularly high quality made of extremely durable polycarbonate—tough enough for most any MegaDO road warrior. It is 21.7″ high, 15.7″ wide and 7.9″ deep which means it’s a “cabin” piece of luggage that is going to stay with you on the plane (even most RJ's!), not in cargo. It has 8 ball bearing wheels which means you can do tricks with it when waiting for your flight to board—that’s why they call these “spinners”. And, it’s got the latest TSA lock built in which means only one other person will see what you have in the luggage. And, its “stageless” telescopic handle can be adjusted to any height, so it doesn’t matter who is driving this thing. And finally, it has the retractable add-a-bag holder which means you can look like a pilot when attaching another piece of luggage to drag along. SEE IT, BUY IT, FLY IT (CLICK HERE). |

It would be helpful if the events were arranged from a Fri. to Sun. timeline. As mentioned in a previous post, the wknd. seminars don't require taking time off for work (for most).
I'm still on the fence as to whether to sign up and just miss some of the Toronto events. It's also disappointing that non-us citizens have to stay on the plane for the AMARC tour, but I understand that this restriction is something that the organizers can't change. |

How about ......this is an opportunity to buy a bag and make a charitable donation
It's just a bit...odd...to get spam from Milepoint hawking luggage. And if I were in the market for a new bag, I think I'd rather decide for myself what to do with the $200 rather than being required to 'donate' it to charity. YMMV, of course. |
The exact same bag retails for aprox 420$ in europe. By the LH Worldshop version and replace the LH logo with an icon of choice and you have the same bag with the option to donate the 200$ to your personal favourite charity.
