This is a story, so fair play to run it. What is amusing is how people rush to get it out - you can imagine people sneaking out of their office / telling daycare to keep the kid for another hour etc - in order to bash out a post :-)

Any other bit of travel news and it would dribble out across blogs over a week.

Nothing motivates quite so well as money (except sex, and let's face it: sex is just another form of currency! ;))

I hadn't thought of it that way, but it's a great point.

Half of these bloggers were promoting the 25K AMEX biz plat a few months ago, no doubt due to the affiliate commission which is reported to be among the highest paid.

I'm wondering what (how many MR points?) the blogger gets for each approved application using affiliated links. Anyone know?

Cold hard cash.

I have seen reports of tens of dollars up to $200 for each approved card.

Either the push was so successful or premature... in any case all bloggers are now scrambling to pull the links and update the blogposts with a revised 50k offer... just when you thought this farce couldn't get any better  That should provide some topics at todays BAcon (who came up with that name???)

Someone posted this list a while back: Commission Rates

Some bloggers claimed the amounts were way off while other chimed in that they were in the ballpark. I suspect it isn't that far off for the AMEX Biz Gold with so many bloggers stepping over each other yesterday to scoop the commission.

Well, the 75K offer is back (w/ 10K spend) for 3 days, May 14-17. How many bloggers have mentioned it? I count zero. I assume there is no affiliate link, lol.

Those numbers are in the right range. There are some other variables that affect can sometimes affect the actual payout negotiated over time.

Thanks HikerT

Jesus, these numbers are damn high. I'm wondering why CCC don't raise the bonus and advertise on their own channels.

The banks do advertise in a variety of channels: print media, TV, direct mail, etc. But I noticed that the banks also solicit their customers for referrals. I think the value of the blogs to the banks is that they serve to provide a "personal" recommendation that attracts new customers.
