EVA Air 747-400 Last Pax Service on 21AUG17

EVA Air in last week’s schedule update adjusted planned last Boeing 747-400 scheduled service in August. The Star Alliance member’s planned last 747 scheduled service on 21AUG17 remains unchanged, however latest schedule and inventory listing shows the 747 will operate Taipei Taoyuan – Hong Kong route, instead of Taipei Taoyuan – Shanghai Pu Dong (BR712/711).

Planned schedule as follow.

BR891 TPE0700 – 0845HKG 744 21AUG17
BR892 HKG0950 – 1130TPE 744 21AUG17

This is the same last flight that the 747Combi had back in 2015.

I'm sure the YVR-ites will be glad that BR is getting rid of the 747 on their service... I think they are the last NA spoke to get the 777. Now we will see if CI will follow

Thumbs up

Being based in YVR, BR can now be added to my list of carriers to fly in Business Class from my hometown without going through another city. I usually have to fly to LAX, SFO or JFK to catch flights with better premium products.

Although BR started using the 77W on the YVR route about a month ago, I was hesitant as I feared they would substitute the flight to a 747-400 for operational reasons.

Farewell BR 747 ...I have fond memories of being on the type many times...in Evergreen Deluxe Class in the nose, no less! What a wonderful aircraft!

Except the plane itself was completely out of AC ! It was unbearable as outside being 95 degrees F or 36 degrees celsius, not to mention BR's 744 has no individual nozzles to get any breeze of air. I was thankful the flight was only a little over an hour as i thought i am going to pass out. Many other people said the same thing about the AC problem and it is a good idea that this plane retire after this flight.

EVA probably didn't want to spend another dime on a plane that they were going to retire. Not worth replacing the one faulty part of the A/C if the aircraft is still able to be dispatched.

I was on the flight too! Fortunately, I had some cold drinks with me. Otherwise I would have passed out too... Did you think EVA did a good job in commemorating this last flight? Although it was my first time taking the last flight, I felt that they could make it more festive at the airport.

CGD1 wasn't on the flight but I managed to complete that favor

Yes, they should have done a lot more at the departure at HKG, but i understand they actually had an official retirement ceremony being held at one of the BR's hangar at TPE 3 days after the flight.

They also should have more than just 2 nogurt in the gold bag with the 747 farwell sticker, the actual "meal" is a disgrace, as BR and CI are supposed to still serve the actual hot meal on all HKG-TPE flights to separate the service from CX, this is a very recent downgrade and a very bad move.

I was also on the flight. However most of the photos were posted on various social media pages (real-time, except inflight).

Here's the video I uploaded.
