I see Wiener Schnitzel on the menu linked above, page 4 "classical Viennese Cuisine", 3rd option down in the main dish section. “Wiener Schnitzel“ - breaded calf cutlet served with potato salad and lamb´s lettuce 17,80 |
Unbelievable!!! You are all right...I am wrong. I see it now, clear as a bell (in spite of the font)....but this was not the menu that came up earlier when I looked. Weird....must have been a time warp.

I walked past the MAK last weekend, it is very close to the Hilton, and was tempted to have another meal. However, there is only so much one can eat during 48 hours in Vienna. Tafelspitz at Plachutta was heavenly. I'll save the MAK for next time.

I was there and I didn't like it. It's not authentic but just a place for tourists. The schnitzels are hugh indeed but way to cheap for that size so the meat quality can't be any good.
I did like Café Sperl. There are also some nice restaurants in the "Alte Ambulanz". I don't know if they offer schnitzel, though. Who says it is not authentic? One of my aunts has been living in Vienna for 20 years, and she knows Vienna thoroughly as a conference/legal interpreter. She said this one is one of the best schnitzel restaurants in Vienna if not the best. Thinner schnitzels are considered superior.

i can only second the recomendation.
i disagree on the "tourist place", i know a lot of locals that go there frequently. i'm no vienna local (i'm from salzburg) but i've been there a few times, its probably the place the OP is looking for... Exactly. Do not forget to order that potato salad with schnitzel. :) |
