CAT details here.

€8 one-way, €15 return, CCs accepted, first train to the airport is at 05:48, takes 16 minutes. There is a check-in desk at Wien Mitte, to save some time, but you have to buy your ticket first.

In Vienna I always stay at the Pension Neuer-Markt.

When I went to school in Vienna many moons ago, the classrooms were located in the Neuer-Markt...

Cheers.

About 17 years ago, I went with a group from HS and we stayed at the Hotel Europa. I remember it being a nice hotel and (as the reviews say) the location is great. It's right on the Kaertner Strasse.

I'd like to go back someday but we never seem to make it past Germany.

i second the positive statements about le meridien. great rooms if you like it modern, but not sterile... nice bar for after dinner drinks. popular restaurant, too. on ring, walking distance to the sites.

Pension Zipser is right behind the City Hall, which is on the Ring and is quite cheap (no points, though, as it isn't affiliated with a chain). I stayed there quite a while ago, but a friend stayed there last summer and was very happy with it. As far I was concerned, one couldn't beat the location, especially for the price.

Any info appreciated.

Here's my (very) detailed report on the Vienna Hilton (Stadtpark) from my June 4th-11th, 2006 stay. Hope it proves helpful for anyone thinking of staying there.

Another vote for the Marriott. Efficient staff. Large rooms. Indoor pool and hot tub.

Look elsewhere if you want 'European charm' though.
