Enough connection time?
If someone travels on CX award HKG-AMS scheduled to arrive AMS at 6.25am, is it safe to buy a ticket for onward journey to CDG on AF/KL that departs at 8 am?
Is the minimum connection time 90 min? I understand that luggage can be interlined. But what if CX is late in arriving? It will not be on one PNR as the CX flight HKG-AMS is an award whereas AMS-CDG is a cheap revenue ticket. Or should one fly AMS-CDG later just to be safe? What to do? Thank you. |
Unless you have freedom of movement in Europe, I will be next flight instead.
It is better to be safe. |
You mean EU passports?
Yes. That is not a problem. So 95 minutes OK? What is the minimum connection time?

But if you do have a EU passport, you should have enough time, giving that your bag will be interlined (which I assume no customs until last stop). To you, basically, no immigration waiting. BTW - if the flight is delayed, there is nothing really you can do. |

Thanks, Ernest. But I am not able to understand the chart (is it from Expertflyer? KVS? or somewhere else?)
What are the figures I should be looking at?

Another question - there will be separate tickets (as it is CX awared and AF revenue), but bags inter-lined, what if CX gets seriously delayed so that there is less than the required time? What happens in these cases?
Thank you,

I got it from Abacus (Sabre), and don't ask me how I got access. Basically, all the MCTs shown are =< 75 min., so 95 min. would definately be ok.

where are you going in france? I would actually suggest against taking a plane even tho the train takes longer. Plane-train connection is better in AMS than CDG.
and you're probs better off with trains than planes re flexibility. however, BNO is totally a European passport in the eyes of EU non-UK. you wont get a stamp on your passport. |
Thanks, Kaka,
Going to Paris. How do I search plane-train connections for AMS?

You are out of luck in that case...CX or AF do not have the obligation to accomondate you, although they could if they choose to.

switch to the language of your choice Look for Amsterdam flughaven or Schiphol as the originating station. PS Just to confirm, if your flight is late you're out of luck. Whereas you can usually arrive in AMS and get a seat on the next train. |
This is not really a CX-related topic. I am moving over to the Europe forum.
