A few additions after a quick scan of the thread:
Bars: Neo's on the 50-somethingth floor of the Downtown Address Hotel (not to be confused with the other Address hotel half a mile away). Great views over the Burj Khalifa and the fountains below. Observatory on 50th floor of the Marriott Hotel Apts, Marina. Views over the Palm. Nassimi Beach at Atlantis, though may be closed for the summer now. Restaurants: A new Gary Rhodes restaurant is to open at the Royal Meridien in July, not sure on exact date Pierre Gagnaire at Festival City intercon is top-end French, with a price tag to match The Arabic restaurant at Bab al Shams - an oldie but all-you-can eat food and good entertainment with belly dancing, camels, horses etc all part of the package Other stuff not mentioned on this thread: Arts - DIFC has some very modern and very large galleries showcasing local, international and even old masters - I was genuinely surprised how good they are. The Bastikya area is also good with a few galleries and arts & crafts shops. Kids stuff - Stargate at Zabeel Park is good value for money, KidZania or Sega Republic at Dubai Mall will also keep them entertained for hours. |

AFAIK, the online ticketing for Burj Khalifa still doesn't work and if you want to go to "the top", then you need to by tix beforehand, i.e. 1-3 days. Seldom you can buy tickets when just showing up.
So keep this in mind and order the tickets at the Dubai Mall on the 1st day you go to DXB so you make it before you leave again... @:-) |

Thanks for that. I notice that you can buy a ticket that sends you to the front of the queue for AED400!!! I'll give that a miss.
We'll go on the first day and get some tickets. Cheers, Rick |
Observatory on 50th floor of the Marriott Hotel Apts, Marina. Views over the Palm. Happy Hour even for non residents from 06.00pm - 08.00pm. All food and drinks are half price on the happy hour menu. Really good value for the venue.
The Rivington Grill at Souk Al Bahar best value and quality lunchtime specials in Dubai. If you are felling really adventurous you can take water powered Jet Pack lessons with Western Marine at Dubai Marina I have seen the video and it looks amazing. |

Maybe the best place to ask this is on the Tripadvisor Dubai forum where you will find more up to date information and reviews.
