A380 Whatif ?
Hi,
Any guesses what will happen if A380 deliveries are late? Specifically we are booked on EK001 in December and MMB seatmap shows A380 layout(in line with A380 roll out) If(God forbid) there are delivery delays then EK will have to find about 2 triple 7's for each lost 380 flight ( 380 carries abot 80 pax in J,777 carries 42) Sounds like a short term logistical nightmare unless EK are holding "spare" planes just in case.

I am also booked on EK001 in January, as it happens, and had similar thoughts.
The good news is that this plane - EK001 is either the 2nd or 3rd one that Emirates will get, as JFK gets No 1 - is already built and test flying for Airbus, albeit not yet delivered. If look at the A380 pages in Wikipedia you can see who is getting each plane and what stage it is at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...and_deliveries Here is what I think is the JFK plane in full livery: http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.php?id=737340
There is obviously a chance that the plane could throw a wobbly on the day, which is a risk you take. (Its a big risk for us because we're in J and the A380 J product will be fully flat, unlike the current one.) However, the London route plane itself should be in service pretty much on the expected day (October).

Raffles,
thanks for the links,EK could have enough 380's by the time we fly to be fairly sure of riding one.I'm desperate to see the seating layout so I can be sure of getting a "true" pair as my wife has mobility problems and it wouldn't be fair to inflict her on someone else lol.I've seen this one....

which looks a bit like the BA club world seating layout with aisle forward facing and window rear facing....wierd sensation first time you take off backwards after a few in the lounge...We're doing BKK so am hoping to get the new flat seats on some or all the legs but you never can tell with EK?
