One - Way upgrades

Looking to upgrade an sector in april on my rtn flight from DXB-BHX... I currently have a mixed sector rtn from BHX-BKK-BHX ... On me outbound im Biz all the way but on me rtn im doing econ and looking to upgrade me last segment back to BHX using miles.

I phoned Skywards tonight to try and sort this out and was told that theer no seats open at the moment and to call back in a couple of weeks when seats might be opened up.

Im currently Gold but unsure if that makes any difference.... Anybody else come across this and told to re phone in a couple of weeks to see if any seats opened up... or any advice ..

Cheers

I am gold as well, and if a seat becomes available then their protocols are they will see to you first...

I tried the same yesterday also flying BHX-BKK RTN March/April and tried to book a upgrade on the DXB-BHX sector so I could use the limo service, also advised to call back in a few weeks.

I was trying to get an upgrade to J for OSA-DXB flight. First time I called they said it wasn't available. Called them a few days/weeks later and was able to sort it out. As far as I understand they can't put you on a waiting list for upgrades using points.

Happens very often, Though I have been told to call back in a day or two rather than in a week. My advise is to call twice daily starting from three days before ur flight. Thats when they usually start to open up.

If the plane has many remaining Biz class seats just a couple of days from its departure, they tend to allow you to upgrade since the seats will be free anyway.

Will try giving them a call 2mrw and see if i get any joy ... if not will have to wait a week then try again.... My return flight into BHX is on a Wednesday so i cannot expect it to be full.... usually goes from BHX about 80 - 90% full in Biz ... not not on the returns into BHX.....

Be just my look that my particular flight will be ram packed.

Please tell me, how realistic is it to get 4 persons to upgrade eco-biz to the same one-way FRA-CMB flight with Srilankan in July 2008 with 37500 Skyward miles? No status with Emirates.

wondering if i should go for this Nokia N95 mileage offer or not...

I guess it depends how early you book. If you book it from now I don't see a reason why you shouldn't be able to. I quickly checked a few of the dates on KVS and availability of J seats in July looks good.
Tell us what happens.

If your flights are booked / held you can call EK/UL and ask if there is space. With EK, you can get availability so long as there is "C" space. I am not sure if this is also the case for UL.

Phone Skywards today to try and upgrade that one way segment i was after and finally it got sorted ... can only assume EK opened more seats up once the new year had passed.

Okay here's again a question for the experts.

I have an upcoming trip connecting in DXB, which I want to upgrade.
While there is no availability on the first leg currently, there is on the second.
I would however like to upgrade the whole trip (two segments).
According to the mileage calculator the difference between upgrading the two segments seperately is more expensive by 5k miles, than to upgrade it as a whole.
So now I am stuck between
- securing at least one upgraded segment, but that might be more 'expensive' if the first segment also clears
- or waiting for the first segment to become available and save 5k, but risking the (currently) secure upgrade on the second segment.

Is EK customer-friendly and charges only the cheaper 'whole upgrade rate' if one segment was already upgraded in advance ? Or do they simply charge in such an event segment by segment ?

Cheers
