Just to update on this....

I e-mailed Emirates in Egypt via the website. I got a reply a few hours later saying that my STPC is booked and confirmed both directions, and that I should pick up the hotel vouchers before leaving Cairo.

So, I think the lesson to be learned is that you should always contact the Emirates office where you flight departs from rather than the office where you reside.

Cheers,
Rick

I have found a list of EK STPC rules on a third party website

STPC:
- For onward connection of more than 8 hours (economy class) or 6 hours (business class) in Dubai,
STPC will be provided unless stated otherwise.
- STPC is based on minimum fare collected (I.e. Retention to Emirates) for Economy class is US$400 for one way
journey & US$800 for return journey ; US$600 & US$1200 for Business class and US$800 & US$1600 for First class.
- Dubai Bargain breaks/Dubai Stopover packages are available for those passengers who does qualify for STPC.
- Stopover in Dubai not permitted unless raise to Dubai Level.
Cheers

Can this be explained? Does the above mean that Y fares should be greater than or equal to USD 800 (400 x 2) to be eligible for STPC?

Yes. If flying on a one way ticket, it must have cost $400 minimum. If flying on a return ticket, it must have cost $800.

I have an open-dated RTW on EK-UA issued by EK...in Business (open dates fro Europe-onwards)

Looks like I will have some longish layovers 8-14 hours in Dubai as I transit from Delhi to Mauritius and back to Hong Kong

How do I arrange the STPC's -- as the ticket is issued and all i need to do is confirm flights and dates to travel on these segments ??

Once you confirm flights, phone your nearest EK office. If they are being annoying / unhelpful, try another EK office :)

This is all good info. Thanks!

I will be flying from Male to Bangkok through Dubai on a UA-EK RTW booked in F. It's an 18 hour connection at DXB so this will come in very, very handy.

Query, although it does not apply to my current itinerary: If I have an F ticket, but the next flight onward on EK is only a two-class of service aircraft, is that the flight EK will look to for the connection time, or will they look to the next flight operated with a three-class of service aircraft?

[In my case, the MLE-DXB flight is in C, but DXB-BKK is served by both two and three class of service aircraft (all of which are more than 6 hours out in my situation)]

They will look to the two-class flight

Greetings from the F lounge at DXB! Just did the STPC at the Le Meridien, and very nice it was too.

I had to collect the vouchers from the Emirates offices in Cairo, but that wasn't a problem - the driver knew where it was, so it only took a few minutes.

Landed from CAI at 23:30, got my luggage, chauffer to the hotel, and in my room by 00:15. Room was average size, but had a plasma TV and a DVD player.

Got picked up at 8:15, and was in the lounge by 8:30 :)

Emirates use the Le Meridien for F & J classes, and the Millennium for Y class.

Next stop CHC.

Cheers,
Rick

I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't envious :p

Have a great trip!

Now in the lounge at SYD after a great flight. The A340-500 F class is amazing. I had none of the problems others have reported with the controls.

I love the 'eat when you want'. I watched a couple of films, then had lunch/dinner about 5 hours into the flight. Then had an omlette 90 minutes out from SYD.

There are 2 people in the lounge here at SYD! The mens shower has a problem that the water doesn't drain away, and thus, the whole shower/toilet becomes flooded. I just noticed before my bag and socks drowned.

Cheers,
Rick

Now at CHC. A very quiet flight from Syd with just 2 in the F cabin. I think the other guy was moved there because he needed special attention (he was very old, and had a sign with him that had 'toilet' written on it!).

I also got extra special attention from a lovely FA (she was probaby bored), and she appeared every time I moved slightly, or even looked as if I needed something.

I had a bit of trouble getting into New Zealand (I've been there about 6 times before), as I didn't have an onward ticket, or e-ticket itinery. It was all sorted out pretty quickly though, and I met the Chauffer drive back to the hotel.

Chrirstcurch seems great. I've just left a bar that was going to be open until 6am. I think I need some sleep.

Cheers,
Rick

STPC - depends on fare class?

I just called EK ticketing office here regarding my stopover in DXB. They said, because of the fare class I booked, I'm not eligible for the hotel stopover (even though it's over $400 USD one-way as posted previously). I'm flying NBO-CAI (and am on EK720 and EK3927). Have things changed recently?
