Safe connection time "SFO for SAN"

I’m flying to SFO from Dubai but need to purchase a connecting flight on United from SFO to SAN. The Emirants flight is due to land around 2:00pm. Would it be safe to book the connecting flight for 7:00pm?

Also is it possible to have bags checked through are would I have to pick up and recheck at the United counter once I land?

You have to pick up your bags and recheck at SFO.

5 hours should be fine. Is it all on one ticket?

Also what club access would I have once landing in SFO? I’ll be flying F on United after J flight. Would this allow access to the United lounge?

Maybe you’ll get better responses in the United / SFO forums? If you’re not going into the city, EK’s business with you will end once you disembark and collect your bags.

According to this thread, EK should be able to tag your bag all the way to SAN. DXB First Class Check-in - Will they through-check bags to interline partner?

However, you still need to collect the bag in SFO, and recheck it with UA post-customs at baggage recheck. You should also confirm with a UA agent that the bag tag information is in your PNR and in their system. Might be easier, overall, to just check the bag with UA at their counter separately in SFO.
